White Stripes Will Reunite Once Their $500 Box Sets Sell Out

Or something like that. As Scott noted in the comments section of Amrit’s post about Jack White playing Conan, the White Stripes have put together the $500 White Stripes Merchandise Collection. It’ll be out 12/1 in an edition of 333. It also came up in an interview Jack did in this month’s issue of Vanity Fair. In the Q&A he mentions the set as one of the things he and Meg needed to check off their lists before they could get back together:

VANITY FAIR: You’re releasing the first three White Stripes albums on vinyl, and the box set [out this month] included a record player, headphones, and other items. Why did you want to do this?

JACK WHITE: We thought we’d do a lot of things that we’d never done: a full tour of Canada, a documentary, coffee-table book, live album, a boxed set. It was one long project that took almost three years. Now that we’ve gotten a lot of that out of our system, Meg and I can get back in the studio and start fresh.
