New Jersey’s Delicate Steve is the solo project of 23-year-old multi-instrumentalist Steve Marion (he’s got a band for live shows). It’s an instrumental project with some genius twists. For example, on “Wondervisions,” the title track to his new album, the R&B melody has a vamping quality to it, like Beyonce strutting on a stage (then it turns into “Reelin’ In The Years” for a few beats). The song’s video is pretty low key: it’s a one-on-one basketball game between Marion and Dirty Projectors’s Nat Baldwin shot on, or made to look like it was shot on old film stock. The video was directed by Carlos Charlie Perez. He’s also done videos for Vampire Weekend, Fang Island, and Lil Wayne.
