MCA’s Okay: Beasties To Release Hot Sauce, “Big” Video

MCA, aka Beastie Boy Adam Yauch, was diagnosed with cancer in his parotid (salivary) gland in 2009, so the Beastie Boys put off the release of part one of their two-part album, Hot Sauce Committee, until he could fully recover. Now MCA’s been given a clean bill of health by his doctors, so the Beastie Boys announced on BBC1 that, while Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 1 is still delayed, Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 2 will come out as planned in Spring 2011. The catch: Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 2 has almost the exact same tracklist as Pt. 1. According to the NME/BBC1, the trio are also finishing up a huge video project. Says Mike D: “We’ve got a video we got to finish, a big video. I know people don’t make big videos any more but we made a big video. It’s not even a video, it’s a film-eo. A cinematic, short film.” He doesn’t explain further, though I’d guess it’s the Fight For Your Right Revisited film starring Elijah Wood, Danny McBride, Seth Rogen, Will Ferrell, John C Reilly and Jack Black. Again, there’s a still above with Rogen, Wood, and McBride as Mike D, Ad-Rock, and MCA.

UPDATE: Yauch has released this statement:

Hello My Friends

While I’m grateful for all the positive energy people are sending my way, reports of my being totally cancer free are exaggerated.

I’m continuing treatment, staying optimistic and hoping to be cancer free in the near future.
