Scottish indie heroes the Delgados called it quits in ’05, but Emma Pollock’s kept busy, continuing to work on Chemikal Underground (the label founded by fellow Delgado folks) and piecing together a solo LP, which sees release next week on 4AD. She told P4K “It’s totally, unashamedly pop and it doesn’t pretend to be anything else.” Fair enough, at least for “Acid Test,” which starts with some percussive guitar pop before moving into a hazier hook, all while a houses of all sorts get built up around her.
Here’s another taste of the LP, the delicate acoustic fingerpicker “Limbs,” showcasing Emma’s crystalline, vulnerable vox singing of fragile limbs that “can break like branches.”
