Sweden’s Club 8 comprises two: Karolina Komstedt handles the vocals rather elegantly, while Johan Angergård heads up just about everything else — including the label putting out the band’s forthcoming, sixth LP The Boy Who Couldn’t Stop Dreaming (Labrador). On it, maestro Johan pushes into the upbeat Swedish sounds familiar to fans of folks like PB&J ‘n’ Shout Out Louds, but the passes through the advance we’ve been spinning found the sparse, digi bass ‘n’ beat ballad “Everything Goes” on repeat. Gotta love the paradox: Karolina singing of transience and impermanence via a melody that just won’t quit.
Another from The Boy, to give you a taste of their bright ‘n’ jangly, Brazilian bongoed Swedish pop side…
Club 8 – “Heaven” (MP3)
The Boy Who Couldn’t Stop Dreaming is out 9/26 in Sweden and 11/13 in the U.S. via Labrador. The UK’s gotta wait ’til 12/3 when Fortunapop puts it out there. One more to download at MySpace.
