Okkervil River – “Wake And Be Fine”

According to their bio, Okkervil River’s Will Sheff began work on the followup to 2008’s The Stand Ins after being very productive in non-writing-for-Okkervil ways: Singing for the New Pornographers, producing albums, backing Roky Erickson. I had no idea that Will Sheff was actually nominated for a Grammy this year, for Best Album Notes — he wrote the liner notes to Erickson’s album himself. Sheff wrote and produced and arranged I Am Very Far himself in Austin, New York, and Connecticut. The waltzing “Wake And Be Fine” is the first sample of the new album. Okkervil River played the song on Jimmy Fallon earlier this year.
