Randy Newman’s Totally Appropriate, Political Macworld Performance

Yesterday’s Apple post included news that Randy Newman closed the Macworld keynote address with a bit of “You’ve Got A Friend In Me.” Which is true enough, but before he got to the Toy Story fluff, Randy felt he had to say “A Few Words In Defense Of Our Country.” Not to get all Seth and Amy, but … really? We know it’s an election year and musicians aren’t shy about their opinions on government but really, Randy? ‘Cause for a second there we almost thought this was a technology address, focused on laptops and smart phones and not on your personal politics, predictions, or ability to namedrop fascist regimes. At about 6:20 he shifts gears and begins talking about Pixar and his soundtrack work but … really.

Stevie looks thrilled!
