Unfortunately not a cover of the My Two Dads theme song (that was “You Can Count On Me,” what’s wrong with you). Fortunately, though, somewhat satisfying our continuing curiosity with the return of the Duritz. This is probably the Sunday Mornings side of things, which is probably the safer mode for them. Pretty good tune, sounds like Sunday brunch, mostly — really high cymbal mix and piano in the verses, nice for the hungover hangdog emoting that is likely Adam’s real-life specialty. (Heads up: autostart upon jumping…)
They’ve been a punchline for awhile, but on the strength of this and Cowboys,” we’re pretty sure they’ll bait some of their closeted fans back out on the street for a spell. As long as they lay off this stuff.
Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings is out 3/25 on Geffen/Interscope.
UPDATE: Counting Crows playing a “secret show” at Bowery Ballroom this Sunday 2/10. Ticket info here.
