Lots to report from camp Weezer. (Thank for the multi-faceted tip, Tony.) First of all, the band’s working on their seventh, currently untitled album. As Weezer themselves tell us:
The bands 7th album, title TBA, is pretty close to a wrap now (after a mild false alarm back in the spring), though there is some work yet remaining to be done. There have also been some other special weezer studio recordings done recently, but more on that later.
The above photo is visual proof. On top of that, there’ll be a Pinkerton Deluxe Edition out if “all goes as planned” and “a to-be-announced special non-physical release.” While you wait, there’s the Weezer 8-bit tribute and some Sugar Ray-related actions. Sugar Ray, you say? Yes:
Upcoming new Sugar Ray album “Music For Cougars” includes their cover of a song recorded but never released by Weezer, “Love Is The Answer”. The original Weezer version of the song remains in the Make Believe era vaults, but now Sugar Ray’s version will be available as of July 21, when their album drops.
Here it is, with Rivers contributing inspirational spoken word:
If that cover didn’t work for you, download the aforementioned Weezer – The 8-bit Album. While you listen, check out the news in even more detail at weezer.com (which is also where you’ll find the above photo).
