Stream G-Side Island

Today, the great Huntsville, Alabama rap duo G-Side releases the new album Island. Over the past few years, ST 2 Lettaz and Clova G have established themselves as a restless, inventive creative force. Island is their second album of 2011, and it’s everything I was hoping it would be. Production team Block Beattaz has made another zoned-out polyglot music tapestry for them, sampling stuff like Joy Orbison and Tame Impala but grounding it in classic Southern rap thump. And the two rappers completely inhabit that sound, putting a ton of emotive force into every syllable. I’m on my first listen now, and I can’t wait to dig deeper into it. Stream the album below.

Island is out now on Slow Motion Soundz; buy it from the group’s Bandcamp page. Check out our Quit Your Day Job interview with them.
