New Fever Ray Video – “Seven”

After posting Crookers’ amped remix and Martyn’s shuffling take, it’s refreshing to return to Fever Ray’s original “Seven” in this Johan Renck-directed video. If you’ve watched any of Karin Dreijer Andersson’s previous visual treatments, you’ll correctly expect this to be dark, creepy, and totally excellent. It features an old woman and a staff-shaking hair-masked skeleton-teed soldier incanting the song amid the hay bales of a barn populated by concerned cows, lambs, and chickens.

As mentioned last time, Fever Ray released a limited-edition two-song tour 7″ featuring Karin with Van Rivers and the Subliminal Kid performing covers by Nick Cave and Anita Lane (“Stranger Than Kindness”) and Vashti Bunyan (“Here Before”). Here’s the Bunyan:

She’s also did it live at the Electronic Beats Festival in Cologne:

You can order the limited-edition 7″ at www.feverray.com. Otherwise, the “Seven” single is out 10/5 via Mute. Around then, you can catch her live with Outsider Vuk, America. (By the way, at the Fever Ray site it says it’ll be “the final Fever Ray tour.” That was fast.)
