Usually, a new commercial track from New York rap scene fixture Kay Slay would not be a thing you’d need to notice. Kay Slay, for all his mountains of credibility, is a man with some bad ideas. He is, after all, someone who permanently attached himself to Papoose’s career and who convinced Fat Joe and Joe Budden and R&B singer Joe to get together and make a song called “Not Your Average Joe.” (I’d also be remiss if I didn’t mention the Kay Slay-commissioned Ghostface/Scarface track “Face Off.”)
But even a broken clock is right twice a day, and give the man credit for “60 Second Assassins.” Kay Slay rounded up four guys who are great at rapping incredibly quickly, and then he encouraged them all to go in as fast as possible over an Araabmuzik beat that sounds like the audio version of a great ’70s chase movie. The video is no great shakes, but we do get to see Araab beating up an MPC, as well as a rare glimpse of Jay-Z’s old mentor-turned-foe Jaz-O, who looks time-ravaged but raps with crisp breakneck efficiency. Watch it below.

Kay Slay’s Rhyme Or Die album is supposedly coming sometime soon.
