Coachella ’08: Friday’s Sets To See

After an all-night flight westward and a $3 cookie meal (thnks fr th mmrs, American Airlines!), we’re showered and ready to get disgustingly sweaty in the desert. Now it’s time to Coachoose our schedule. If you’re in Indio and haven’t had a chance to check in with CMJ’s buzz kids Black Kids, the Floridians go on at 3:25 (right before Jens Lekman) — but if you’re looking for a guaranteed boner to start your day, we suggest Les Savy Fav or Battles (but really, choose Harrington). After that, you could go the trippy green skull route with Dan Deacon, but been there done that. Although all reports point to Cut Copy’s crushing it live of late, committing to the Aussies means missing the sisters Deal and maybe even the sisters Quin (who hit the Coachella Stage at 5:00 and 6:15 respectively). More overlapping sets: Jack White and his Raconteurs vs. Matt Berninger and the National. At least the later night itinerary will be smoother: spend your time skipping Jack Johnson by hopping between Sharon Jones, Spank Rock, Professor Murder, and Black Lips. All said, we’re most geeked about the Verve, Aphex Twin, and the weather, but don’t let that stop you from telling us what you’re going to see. We’ll continue with fresh posts for the rest of the day, and expect full on Coachella coverage throughout the weekend.

If you wanna rock out from the comfort of your laptop, Blue Room will be streaming live sets all weekend. Here’s today’s schedule.
