New Tamaryn – “Mild Confusion”

On “Mild Confusion” downcast San Francisco/New York group Tamaryn make like Siouxie Sioux singing over a heavily warped, all-consuming Dead Can Dance (or non-warped My Bloody Valentine) backing track. The quartet stick to the dark, thickly atmospheric feel across any number of songs, but the sounds collide most daringly (and less Jarboe-ly) on this one. I’m hoping they continue twisting things into this frigid aural syrup. (Note: With Wild Nothing, Glasser, and Bat For Lashes on the mind, 2009 is definitely going out on a Kate Bush push.)
