i remember interviewing Wes & Stam when this record came out, and they asked me, whilst giggling between themselves conspiratorially, if I knew what Slang Tang was about. my guess then, as it is now, is: semen. like, seriously: "Slang tang/Can we make fresh jam?/Sticky sticky sticky sticky/Sticky sticky sticky sticky/In my hands/I want to lick up, lick up, oh." that, to me, seems like LP's real gay anthem.

there is nothing more banal than a person on the internet saying "man, this makes me feel old" in the comments. but a decade since the summer of chillwave makes me feel real old. time is a goon.

even though it's an excellent remake of an excellent film by the same excellent director who did both, you shouldn't see Gloria Bell then. i had this song in my head for weeks after watching it.

the best-albums-not-on-this-list list is always a great idea. especially given, for me, most of my favourite records aren't on the big list above. Laura Stevenson 'The Big Freeze' Julia Jacklin 'Crushing' Georgia Spain 'Trouble Isn't Something You Can Hold' Jake Xerxes Fussell 'Out Of Sight' Field Medic 'Fade Into The Dawn' The Matthew Herbert Big Band 'The State Between Us' Káryyn 'The Quanta Series' Mdou Moctar 'Ilana: The Creator' O Terno '' Sacred Paws 'Run Around The Sun' Blick Bassy '1958' Barrie 'Happy To Be Here' Lowly 'Hifalutin' Hannah Cohen 'Welcome Home' Grace Ives '2nd' Carly Rae Jepsen 'Dedicated' also, re: the list above: Billie Marten > Billie Eilish Damien Jurado > Bill Callahan Kevin Morby > Strand Of Oaks CRJ > Ariana, forever and always

Koffee literally has one EP out, that should be easy to get around. love Erykah Badu, i think Mama's Gun is her best LP, but pretty sure the world won't say that. Mitski start with Bury Me At Makeout Creek, and how.
