Comments from a famous toronto painter shot me down.

it took me a lil' while to get into it, because i loved HEAVN so deeply, so earnestly. but LEGACY! is real good. favourite jam right now is GIOVANNI, but there's lots of contenders.

after seeing this film, i am traumatised from seeing Boban beaten to death, bare-handed, by the bassplayer from Dogstar.

don't think it's been mentioned around these parts at all, but there's a new (real good) Agent Blå LP. for those who like Makthaverskan and Hater, here's another Swedish band with huge, chiming guitars and carolling vocals. https://agentbla.bandcamp.com/album/morning-thoughts

never really listened to the Sunn o))) LPs that much, but have fond memories of seeing them play live like 10+ years ago and it being so loud that my face was literally vibrating from the soundwaves. was worried my nose was just going to fall off.

speaking of mad libs on acid, i just read those amazing Taylor-Swift-as-white-supremacist-goddess-defying-the-neo-McCarthyist-thought-police type comments on the T-Swif sounding-board biz. can't believe they got downvoted; it was a crazy work of crypto-performance-art, where grammar & spelling were shown to be tools of the feminazi reverse-racist agenda.

how great is the refrain "kid you'll be okay/you'll get better with age" if you're 12 or 13. the truth wrapped up in an earworm. or, y'know, a snail.

two amazing albums from a couple of weeks ago i fear may be getting lost in the deluge of new music: Káryyn's debut LP, which is epic and strange and beautiful; anyone who likes Björk or Holly Herndon need be all over it. and the Matthew Herbert Big Band record, a two-hour meditation on the notion of Britishness in the wake of Brexit, which is sad and funny and sometimes joyously brassy.

anyone else get unexpected Life Without Buildings vibes from the Fontaines DC LP? early singles had me expecting them to be more like an Irish Protomartyr, but there's some real complexity, contrast, sweetness etc at play. either comp gets at the real point, though: lots of words spoke-sung in a pleasing babble.
