Haven’t watched since I don’t have Peacock (yet) but I’m now looking forward to at least watching the highlights from night 1. WWE’s weekly output can truly be the dregs, but even a weekly AEW Dynamite viewer like myself can admit that their PPVs can not only slap but also do a good job of centering women’s wrestling, performers of color, etc.
Update: I like it a lot! I do miss the synths though - they were a huge part of what made this band so mind blowing to me in high school. But the new drummer sounds great!
Yooooooo, I wasn’t expecting a Genghis Tron reunion in 2021. Haven’t gotten the chance to listen yet, I’m a little apprehensive since I always associated Mookie very strongly with the band but the new lineup looks like it rips too.
Just to be clear, Polyvinyl says above that they've "begun to facilitate the transfer of rights on digital and streaming services back to the band." Unless I'm mistaken about something, Alex can keep his music on streaming services; he just no longer has the association (and benefits) of working with the label. Of course, could be wrong, but that's the impression I got.
Everything Lana says makes me wish I was back in a crowded dive bar and some awful friend of a friend was just ranting at me while I was trying to order a beer. Fuck it. I would have another conversation about fucking Pinegrove if it meant I got to be in a dive again.
When I first started playing bass guitar my teacher got frustrated with me because he wanted to teach me funk basslines and all I wanted to do was play Reaping Stone by Iced Earth even though the bass basically matched the guitar parts for every part of the song except the intro. He was right and I was wrong!
Obviously I’m joking but honestly I’m kind of not surprised that this is the first time I’m hearing about Iced Earth since I reviewed “Framing Armageddon: Something Wicked Part I” for my high school paper when I was in 10th grade.
Maus strikes me as the kind of guy who shows up for, as someone on twitter called it, a “coup safari”. Ariel Pink, on the other hand, strikes me as someone who is probably pilled to the gills.
Yeah, it’s a bummer. I’m also a Pink fan but I’m definitely not surprised by this after some of the shit he’s said.
RIP. A legend. This year really waited to kick us on the way out.
I hope that when this national emergency is over we have some sort of mass grieving ceremony or event where people can gather and experience catharsis. I watched the AEW tribute to Brodie Lee last night and it was the most touching wrestling show I've ever seen, maybe because it just felt good to see a group of people together who were visibly going through grief. I feel like I learn about these deaths on Twitter by myself, and keep scrolling, and just end up bogged down by loads of DISCOURSE that makes me feel isolated and angry. I just want to see my friends in person and tell them I love them again.
Let me know if you need anything, Gummers. I'm just one poster, but I want to be there if you need me.
One of the few bright spots of 2020 was knowing as little as possible about this season of SNL beyond Jim Carey’s uncanny-valley Biden, and now I have that taken away from me as well :(
Love this band and it's a shame that from now on everyone will apparently be using new releases by them as an opportunity to dunk on Koz (as much as he deserves to be dunked on)
I'm less concerned about a possible romantic relationship and more concerned about the implications of considering your landlord as your father figure?
I love NYT Popcast. They did an episode about some of the artists we’ve lost to Corona that highlighted a number of musicians I hadn’t listened to before - it was a sad but rewarding listen. Also it’s the only reason why I’m in any way up to date with what’s trending on Tik Tok, outside TWiP of course.
