you have a point there, was trying to say i've seen a bunch of male critics on twitter slathering praise on this album in a way that doesn't feel very critical or about the art. but yea fair

wonder if violinist is intentionally quoting the string part from Heartless off 808s on at 3:20 in Summer. sounds a lot like it imo, call me crazy these performances were aight, especially the 2nd one but I guess I'm just not really here for this new angel era. not hearing the types of melodies that I used to like from her. props to those it's workin for. I would never say the critical success of this new record is related to the fact that she's single now, but...

“Posthumous Forgiveness” is really two songs stitched together in one — that “Sicko Mode” move" u really gonna do Fight This Generation dirty like that?

'how could u be so - cold as the winter wind when it breeze yo' rly tho putting aside the point that Heartless is just a classic word, are we just at the point where titling originality means nothing? is 'Like A Rolling Stone' fair game?

lol, 2nd time I've made the lowest rated. i stand by everything! now that my band's twitter handle has been featured on stereogum, is it cool to add that to our press kit orr? might as well drop the link here to make it official right? https://meanlife.bandcamp.com/album/bad-vibes-in-the-womb happy holidays to everyone, even the kanye haters

kanye recorded with mccartney. what's so crazy about the idea of him referencing sgt pepper? we know kanye's process involves incorporating the ideas of people around him. you think they were shooting this and no one on the team noticed the similarity? cmon butthash

I mean dude, watch the slow zoom out shot in motion in the video? It seems pretty intentional. It's not like Kanye hasn't heard of the beatles or seen one of the most famous album covers of all time. Not to get woke here but, can only white musicians make overt beatles references? Not sure where you're getting lost on this one "What's a black beatle anyway?"

also, why does this article feel weirdly like a press release with a few 'supposedly's thrown in?

belly laugh if you want but a reference is a reference. He made it, I just memed it. there's also a Jodorowsky reference or two in there. Also pretty sure that grandma shot wasn't meant to look cool. She is not a cool woman. Kanye isn't trying to be cool right now. It's about family

prodigious musician maybe but this kid peddles some seriously pretentious dreck. surprised to see him here. give this beatles cover a shot if you want to be angry at him forever: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dXf1nUVdVuM

my downvoters have brought great shame upon their families. i'm sry you guys let politics get in the way of enjoying one of the best artists we've got rn. but judge this vid as a vid and it is a good vid

another strangely powerful video with an adorable ending. the moment midway where the choir comes in heavy is super cool, kinda bests the studio version. some funny visual parallels too https://twitter.com/EnjoyYrMeanlife/status/1200100362306441216

New evidence suggests the shooting was a misunderstanding - the shooter was just trying to give Tweedy a Shot in the Arm - something he's been asking for publicly for years. case dismissed

You personally might, but people overall wouldn't, because they get free social points for dunking on him. which brings me to @WilliamSockner: That's the issue, though, the "women are people too" song you think is terribly written literally has Great lyrics. I love those lyrics. It's just about a subject matter you don't want to hear. We get that you're so woke that that song feels like a no-duh sentiment, but I mean..... at least he is finally coming to a positive conclusion on that topic in music that will be heard by millions, when the genre he works in is kind of built on the opposite of what he's offering in 'violent crimes'. If Famous took u out of Kanye fandom, Violent Crimes could have pulled u back in. It is sad to me that the noise of the clickbait is too loud for some people to hear through right now

I already said I didn't love JIK, not hard to admit. But okay to make this comparison work, imagine Eddie Vedder came out publicly in support of Trump, and PJ released those 2 albums you don't like After doing that. People would rage at those albums regardless of the quality. that's what is going on with kanye right now. Ye was actually great, a lot of people should give it another listen or two

November 25, 2019 on Livestream Kanye West’s Nebuchadnezzar – An Opera
I really don't think kanye humiliating taylor swift was the point of the famous video though. was he also humiliating trump and cosby by showing them? the vid was an exploration of the invasiveness of celebrity culture (something like that anyway), and if it didn't come attached to the clickbait of the taylor drama, it would be seen as one more cool music video. i think a lot of people have fully lost faith in Ye at this point (which I obviously get) but that unfortunately means they aren't willing to extend the benefit of the doubt to 'edgy' ideas that just Might be more thought provoking than they are harmful. He's given us a lot. I'm still happy to hear him out

November 25, 2019 on Livestream Kanye West’s Nebuchadnezzar – An Opera
i mean... two things can be true at once. the famous vid was provocative art. it was also invasive and revenge porn-y. also no one with his catalogue/life can realistically be called 'small minded'

November 25, 2019 on Livestream Kanye West’s Nebuchadnezzar – An Opera
I live-streamed the opera. It wasn't what I personally want from Kanye content (he didn't appear onstage until the final bow) but to me it's cool that he's doing whatever random idea he feels like at the moment - it's very hit and miss but it's a lot of creative energy which i appreciate. I don't love JIK like I do the rest of his albums but I'd much rather our pop culture musical figures be doing weird out there stuff that no one asked for. Makes the world feel more real
