I hear you with the likelihood of her being fired as well as the differences between the two. But I think Lizzo's behavior (and the results of that behavior in terms of abuse) are similar enough to be compared. I recognize that p4k does thrive on negative reviews, but let's also remember that music writers and journalists also aren't the most financially secure people in the world. Sure, Pitchfork posted the article, but someone wrote the article and we shouldn't overlook whatever abuse they got from Lizzo stans.

Both stories involve her massive fanbase siccing themselves on someone trying to do their job. One has a public name the other doesn’t. You could make the argument that a music writer should expect to have more visibility as that comes with the territory, but that doesn't mean they should have to endure abuse because the person with the fan base doesn't know how to process criticism. I'm not sure Tom really was comparing the two as much as just bringing up past shit, but I think it's not out of bounds when the effect of her words between both events are similar. I'm also not saying she's responsible for abuse or threats that the Postmates girl or the p4k writer endured. But there's a lesson here and I'm hoping she learns it.

Danny is a top tier artist of the decade. I don't really have anything else to say other than I love this guy and plan on buying this record. There are artists that you feel obligated to support and Danny's approach, consideration, and time he puts into his albums really stands in contrast to so many other artists these days. I'd rather have a well planned, quality album once every couple years than projects for the sake of new material. Danny has consistently prioritized his artistry, and ever since I saw him say in an interview that he'd rather impress critics and fans than sell numbers I've respected the utter shit out of him. Also (obligatory) XXX still bangs !

You should be! I think one of the coolest parts about seeing them on that last tour was seeing the different generations of fans that were in the crowd. Tons of older people that seemed to be OG fans as well as loads of kids who probably hadn't attended a concert before. Dookie was the first album I really got in to as a kid and it was touching to see this whole range of people singing these songs back. I really can't emphasize enough how many classic songs Green Day has in their catalogue.

My girlfriend and I caught Green Day on their last tour at the Rose Bowl for only $25 bucks and it was an incredible show. They played for probably three hours with two encores. I know it's a popular thing to bash on Green Day for their late-career moves but nothing can change the fact that they have so many classic songs that still sound so great in a live setting.

Last week I saw Massive Attack cover "Bela Lugosi's Dead" and I thought at the time it'd be the closest I'd get to seeing Bauhaus live. Unfortunately I'll be traveling when they play in LA but hopefully they play more soon.

Holding off on reading this until I hear the record but I gotta say the advanced singles have blown me away and I've been listening them pretty much non stop since he's released them. This dude has a gift and I can't wait until Friday

I kinda joke to my friends that when it comes to Miles' music, I prefer the stuff that sounds like cocaine rather than heroin. But some of these songs sound like a bullshit, overpriced daiquiri you drank on the carnival cruise last night that you're now throwing up while the boat docks, and your wife and kids leave your dumb ass to nap on the boat while they go out and have their tourist experience. I know what I like about Miles' music and admittedly I don't venture too far outside of the albums, songs, or performances I enjoy. But man, not only are these songs not "it," but they also seem to neuter exactly what I like about Miles's artistry. Can we try to not spin gold out of half-finished songs or what's left behind and find better ways to honor the music that already exists?

Yeah it was such an excellent set. They sounded even better live than they do on record, and I'm really impressed with how strong Smith's voice is live. Legendary performance and a legendary band. It was kinda a funny venue to see the group. I'd look over and see a bunch of children playing in a sand trap. I considered buying a Cure bucket hat because I thought it was a very funny merch option, but $30 bucks is beyond a price point I can accept.

August 29, 2019 on Pusha-T – “Coming Home” (Feat. Ms. Lauryn Hill)
I recently re-negotiated my hours/schedule at work to help me maintain my own sanity through the 9-5 hellscape that is my mid 20s and now that I no longer work on Fridays music sounds about 80% better when I'm not listening in the office. Having to multi-task at work makes it really hard to give certain releases my full attention. Can't tell you how many times I've listened to an album at work and thought "meh," only to 180 on it when I'm listening outside of work. I think this is one of those releases that I wouldn't have been able to appreciate while listening at work, passively listening. But wandering and dancing around my apartment in my PJs while blasting So Much Fun made for a really fun (lol) listening experience and I'm convinced that Thug leveled up on this one.

I saw Fuck Buttons at the Echo in 2013 and all my friends made fun of me for wearing earplugs until after the show, when the hearing loss kicked in. I felt superior until I saw Blanck Mass in 2017 and forgot to bring plugs. So excited for this album and for the possibility of more hearing damage when he returns to LA.

It seems odd to discount his "mixtapes" and "playlists" if we're talking about artistic output, which we can all agree isn't limited to studio albums. Especially when those Drake releases are better than his albums.
