Like, he seems to loathe doing Festival sets, but paradoxically they've pretty much been the only shows The Strokes have played since like 2006 and they keep all of their wallets fat and allow them to do the stuff they actually want to do.
Dude seems like maybe he's back on the sauce. They could be the best band in the world if he tried 15% harder. The whole "Oh, the lyrics? Can't be bothered with learning those!" schtick is getting old. The Strokes are his piggy bank and nothing else to him.
Usually I avoid new songs live shot on a phone, but the quality on that was super good! Song sounds great. Just listened to Young Enough on a long drive the other day after a long time and still really dug it, but thought the end of the album kinda peters out.
Never seen Kelly Clarkson's daytime talk show, but based on how often I see a news article here about her singing some cover on the show, I have to imagine it's a real life version of What's Up With That?, where Kelly just never stops singing or interrupting her guests with songs.
Just when I think there can't possibly be more Beatles stuff to cause me to nerd the fuck out, something like this comes around. This shit fired me up so much. Favorite part was seeing Ringo and John messing around with that kid and Paul and John being self-aware about how their drama is going to make an excellent documentary.
The former. At least with Frusciante. Also, as they seemingly do now every other 4 years, The Strokes seem to have indoctrinated another new group of teenage fans, if TikTok and Billie Eillish interviews are to be believed.
This song makes me feel like I'm coming out onto a dark, rainy city street from a grimy industrial club wearing a leather duster or like I'm an extra in Dark City.
I laughed like a madman through my first theater viewing of Phantom Thread to the point that people were turning around and looking at me. The absolute GOAT of directors.
This is stupidly wrong, at least in my experience as a Clevelander. We have several James Beard winners and nominees and a lot of restaurants that locally sourced. As someone who has lived in NYC and Boston, the best meals that I've had in my life have been in Cleveland.
I'm a Black Album guy, but The Blueprint is truly a special landmark rap record. "Takeover" is the best diss track I've ever heard, and Tom describes it perfectly. There's no anger, just a "I can't be bothered by this" annoyance. I love Jay Z. I even love bad Jay. The best shit talker the game has ever had, there's a line in almost every verse that makes me shake my head and laugh. In my eyes, as long as he's still actively popping up with features and shit, then he's still the reigning GOAT.
Gotta say I'm team Buckingham on this one. Dude wants to be an artist and isn't content being a legacy act. Also, the fans want to see both of them together. He certainly isn't making matters better, but they both just gotta suck it up for the money.
