The one I've heard is that James found a jacket left behind at a party (or something) and the initials MMJ were written on the inside of the jacket. Someone made the joke that the initials stood for My Morning Jacket. Who knows, though.
i love them both, but ty segall's output is wayyyyy more varied than big thief.
Given the political environment, I'm not sure how popular the boss is with a lot of cops right now.
Not a judgment of quality, fwiw. I just know people who like Nathaniel Rateliff and this is true.
He's where Bon Iver fans who only liked For Emma, Forever Ago went.
Yeah, I know people like their music. I don't actually know Maus' stuff, but I think Ariel Pink is one of the most overrated musicians of all time. He's got a few good songs, but I just don't see it.¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I think these songs are pretty ok actually.
The original article had one of the songs embedded twice.
The drums don't sound like they were recorded in a hermetically sealed cavern, so that's an improvement.
Mediocre middle-aged white man likes Donald Trump. Where's the news?
Anyone know if TV on the Radio is ever going to release something else?
Pretty unadventurous picks: Album: Fiona Song: Ooh La La by RTJ
I've started to notice a lot of Albini hate lately. Anyone here hate his production, and if so, why? Honestly curious. I always thought the consensus was he is pretty good. I'll say I do like the way he mics drums.
I could listen to "Dirty Work" 100 times in a row and not get sick of it. With a list of 10, I can see why it's not on here, but it's my #1 for sure.
I'm just looking forward to Mike and El's Lifetime Achievement Grammys in 2044.
Run the Jewels is the most egregious omission this year. Not even a nod in the rap categories. That's fucking crazy.
Damn, Grammy's. You hate Run the Jewels, you don't love the troops.
It's been so long. I feel like Cher.
Your Best American Girl at 8?! Are you trying to start a fight with me?
It is my coworker's fault, not the song's*
If I ever hear Tennessee Whiskey again, someone will pay.
Deftone's Stephen Carpenter Is An Idiot is a punchier title.
I can't believe it's been 3 years. I'm still telling people about this column like it's a brand new thing.
You're right. Sprinsteen wouldn't do that.
Have you ever heard Jack White talk on stage? Now THAT'S a funny accent. It has no geographic reference point.
I'm not a huge fan of biopics, but I'll give it a shot.
Hell of a singer. Shitty scientist, though.
holy shit just noticed there is a late of the pier cover. what a great one-and-done band.
Titus contributing a cover that sounds like it came from The Airing of Grievances is *chef's kiss*
White Reaper covering The Hives. Be still my heart.
And if "Ante Up Remix" by MOP isn't on there, add that in.
Busta Rhymes is one of the best "greatest hits" rappers of all time. I'd recommend an Essentials/Best of playlist as a place to start.
Ah, shit. I voted wrong. It's Ooh La La by RTJ for me, without a doubt.
Texas Drums Pt I & II is my pick. It's the only "fun" song I'm currently listening to. What a year!
