Great band, and consistently so. These two Apple Venus albums were a fine way to bow out.

A Tacocat song lasting almost four minutes? *head explodes* Good to have them back.

'He produced this record (or most of it)' Did he? All I've read is he features on the album, nothing about who has produced it. He produced The Voyager.

I don't think he will get re-elected, but it won't matter because we'll just get another Reagan/Bush Jr/Trump in 2028 anyway. Either way, the Democrats need to stop playing centrist politics all the time, because MAGA types are a lost cause.

Any 2020 Democrat candidate worth their salt should have abolishing ICE as one of their pledges. Not sure any of them will sadly.

As last year and the two times the Giants beat them proved, it's more fun when they lose in the big game itself!

And Scott Walker has spent the last 30-40 years doing one great album a decade, so there's more than one approach to genius!

Maybe, though seems a bit much just getting St Vincent in to produce one song.

I don't know, sorry! The HFPA are just stupid. Here's their rules https://www.goldenglobes.com/sites/default/files/uploads/2012/04/HFPA-Golden-Globe-Awards-Eligibility-Descriptions-Effective-2-1-15.pdf

Eh, I really doubt money has much to do with it (it's not like every Best Picture winner is a smash hit), it's just awards are voted for old white guys mainly who aren't exactly in touch with the times. And foreign language films almost never win the big prizes (and Roma wasn't eligible to do so here)

Three of those will be nominated at the Oscars, the other two suffer the fate of being far too low key for major awards to notice them

January 7, 2019 on Bohemian Rhapsody Wins Best Picture At The Golden Globes
Foreign films are not eligible for Best Drama or Best Musical/Comedy at the Globes, so Roma couldn't have won anyway. Stupid rule but there you go.

Singer walked out of the production late in the day (and I've seen at least one comment that he barely did any work anyway) and Dexter Fletcher took over to finish things off, but Singer retained the credit on the film As for sinking ship, unlikely, this stuff barely registers with the public and they happily keep paying up to see Aquaman 2 or whatever anyway

Who'd have thought that 90 old white guys who don't give a shit what people think would make terribly tone-deaf awards choices huh (the Oscars are not likely to follow suit anyway before anyone starts raging that they will) Thank god the Eagles won or Bradley Cooper would have been really mad last night

OK, fine, you don't listen to any music done by people who have/may have done bad things, well done you.

January 6, 2019 on Chance The Rapper Apologizes For Working With R. Kelly
Weird that we're now dragging everyone who worked with R Kelly. Loads of people worked with R Kelly, loads of people also worked with Dr Dre, Michael Jackson, Jimmy Page and a gazillion other musicians who have done shitty things or been accused of doing shitty things and nobody is getting mad at them. The moral as ever is if we fixate on one bad person, we can forget about all the others who have done bad things and ignore the fact there's zero consistency with these things and that we're all total hypocrites here - I happily listen to Michael Jackson and Led Zeppelin, so I'm not about to start raging at anyone who did a song with R Kelly.
