Interesting to note that, basically, the backing band for The Emotions' Best of My Love was Earth, Wind, and Fire, and the backing band for Cheryl Lynn's Got to be Real was Toto. Both song were dopplegängers of each other, but more as a complement. Emotions is a nice tribute to both.
Recall that Sceamadelica flew under the radar in The States when released in '91. Before I learned about Primal Scream was two years later on a journey in New Zealand when a Brit handed me the CD, like a tab of LSD, and said "Here try this." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9CrBqRb3VGM The Roxy Erickson and The 13th Floor Elevators original is mind blowing also. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwSA0Tckwbk
And of course the great Johnny Cash https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9CrBqRb3VGM
This was my favorite recording for '91 back then, and I still love Soundgarden. RIP eternally Chris Cornell. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pBZs_Py-1_0
"I Love Music" is an ultimate, get-up, cut in on the groom and dance with the bride song. 100/10
You're being too kind, and the '1' should be credited to Loleatta Holloway. The genius PTA made his career.
This is a total buzzkill from Monday’s Unbelievable, in the words of Allen Toussaint, “Everything I Do is Gonna be Funky From Now On.” https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=sC8is1HUfrg
EMF = Ecstasy Mother Fuckers
Surprised to not see Little Simz - Sometimes I might Be Introvert.
Thank You Rollerboogie, enjoy your holidays!!!!
Same scores from me. I not really a fan of her other work but I like this Katy Perry song, and also giving her a high rating because I recall this was after her divorce from Russell Brand, nice context to become enlightened from.
Point Blank has a decent enjoyable story line, I like Kathryn Bigelow's films, (Near Dark, Strange Days). Gus Van Sant early films were like love letters to the gritty Portland underbelly (Drugstore Cowboy). Bill & Ted Excellent Adventure entertaining revisit, especially George Carlin.
Paula Abdul -6/10 'Gothic' Rollin Stones- 10/10 Love this song! Percy Sledge - 9/10
I hit 110,000 minutes this year, I'm very fortunate to listen to music while working. Your perspective of Spotify is 'Spot On', sometimes I may have saved the same song from two different releases, on two different playlists by accident. For example "Don't Dream It's Over" is a go to song for me, but I have noticed that I have had the version from the first Crowded House, and also the version from Very Best Of Crowded House, if these two were combined then Don't Dream It's Over would have been on my year end list.
Great list, I had a great disco version of "If You Could Read My Mind" on my Spotify Unwrapped 2012. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OM5_8b9Y7O0
Spotify Wrapped 2021 has arrived, and many of us are scratching our heads, wondering “Did I actually listen to this that often? So here is my Top 10 1- Fênix - Azymuth 2- Spaceman - Harry Nilsson 3- The Big Sky - Kate Bush 4- Buffalo Stance - Neneh Cherry 5- Easy Rider - Action Bronson 6- Jumbo - Underworld 7- Don’t Change - INXS 8- Integrity - Kamasi Washington 9- Bailarín - Bajofondo 10- Where I’m From - Digable Planets Artist of the Year - David Bowie (Once Again) The main influences on my complete repertoire of Spotify Unwrapped has been, the Portland Oregon Jazz station KHMD, and The Number Ones. I had plenty of INXS on the list, a band that I have loved for so long, when Tom gave Need You Tonight a 10/10, it was a shot in my ears to dive into their catalog again. Roxette and Def Leppard are other artists that I really got into this year. I’m also open to the suggestions here on the comments, so Thanks to ALL and Thanks to TOM!
More than turds....according to Tom
!!!Very Nice!! Here is the Soda Stereo Profugos '87 performance at Viña, such an amazing band!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4iZMMhUj7y0
Well said, the people and the comments help make life more cheerful in a crazy mixed-up world. Anyone who has seen 'Last Night In Soho" will recognize this Siouxsie and The Banshees reference. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=amR6-neQBPE

I gave both these 9's, Linda Ronstadt was incredible with making the songs she covered her own, why she is revered and in the Rn'R Hall of Fame. Barry White, so smooth, hope people will disassociate Robbie Williams "Rock DJ' from this.
On the subject of videos, the"Joyride" video is like a Roger Corman B-movie.
"Young Ones" is a great song and a great video! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OIRE6iw-ws4
All high scores from me also...they don't make songs like they used to.
8-10-10-8 Same association with the radio but as an 8 year-old, these songs are like blasts from the past, songs that I would learn to sing along to...except for the Chuck Mangione which I would air-trumpet to.
Pitbull 9/10 Drake 4/10 Taylor Swift 9/10 I too am a Pitbull affectionado, his work is solid, songs and producer, not a Drake fan, and my niece is a huge Taylor Swift fan, makes me one also.r
Baby Baby - 7/10, I have a specific memory of listening to FM radio and driving on the Oregon coast to this song. It was the first sunny day in weeks and it played along well with the scenery, almost heavenly. Plus I like the keyboards. 96 Tears - 9/10, speaking of keyboards, always a party favorite and nice reference from The B-52's in "Deadbeat Club". I Can't Help Myself 10/10 - Motown songs, I start with 10/10 and work downwar, because so many Motown songs are atmospheric and reach deep into soul this one has no blemishes.
Kinda of a watered down Rick Astley, but I still give it a 7/10. Just good enough that maybe Kelly Clarkson will do a Kellyoake sometime with "I've Been Thinking About You".
This was one of the great re-inventions (ala Bowie) and The Edge metamorphasizes into immortality on Aching Baby, though the whole band and Eno confidently knew what they were doing when creating this musical cannon. Supposedly U2 almost broke up before this, and became a hungry band once more.
Absolutely, not making it any higher then number #5 doesn’t do this song justice. It definitely has a 90’s slick production and programmed drums, but listening all the way through, it soars.
I convinced there in nothing scientific about spellchecker
Listening to Shoegaze still gives me contact high and tracers. Upvote 3 times as well.
Excelente!!! Been listening to a lot of showgaze lately celebrating 30 years of MBVLoveless, Ride ‘Nowhere’ was the precursor that laid the ground for the sonic bliss to follow, early Teenage Fanclub, Swervedriber to name a couple others, a blend of The Who Sell Out and Daydream Nation.are influences the come to mind.
Jon Secada’s “Just Another Day” is a bangin’ 10/10, it almost deserves an additional (in parentheses) “Just Another Day ((Without Yor)) added to the song title because it is so good.
Yes, many great women hi-hop artists then, Salt N' Pepa too https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8tbclCgeE78
Also congrats to the late Ronnie Van Zandt and Allen Collins. My bad for forgetting th
Congrats to Peter Frampton for penning the song, wouldn't he be a co-acceptor?
