"...after all it was you and me." I've never understood that line. Sounds deep, I guess, but WTF is he talking about.

June 8, 2020 on The Number Ones: The Human League’s “Don’t You Want Me”
"I Love Rock & Roll" is horrible. Joan Jett is horrible. That she's in the HOF while Steppenwolf, Grand Funk, and BOC are not is a travesty. "We Got the Beat" is horrible. It sounds like a Doodlebops reject. The GoGos couldn't write a song to save their lives. This feature and its comment section often reminds me of the Simpson's Superbowl Halftime show, "Hooray For Everything!'

Everything Must Go is a fantastic record, and very fitting as the swan song it appears to be. It's more coherent and assured than 2AN. Most definitely up to standards. Give it another try, my major dude.

I love it. My friend bought VIP tix for last tour, including backstage meet n' greet. Like, $2000 a pop. The band showed up late and were in a hurry. He got 15 minutes or so for a picture with them, and a Grand Tour of the loading dock. Hilarious.

November 20, 2019 on Mötley Crüe Reportedly Plan US Tour Four Years After Vowing They Would Never Perform Again
Is it only me, or does anyone else wonder why we pronounce it "anejull" when we're talking normally, but when sung it's always pronounced "AEEEEEN-JAIL." Asking for a friend.

November 8, 2019 on The Number Ones: Alan O’Day’s “Undercover Angel”
It's odd but Donald Fagen had a short-lived fascination with Dr Buzzard around the time of "Gaucho" and you can hear the similarity when you compare that albums "Glamour Profession" with “Cherchez La Femme.” I think Don was dealing with a little writer's block around that time, as he also lifted a Keith Jarrett melody for the title track and was sued for it.

Yeah, file this under "seemed like a good idea at the time." There are other Beatles songs that would play more to Elton's strengths...Lady Madonna, for instance.

Sax is very flat, seriously out of tune. Bugs the crap out of me.

June 7, 2019 on The Number Ones: Stories’ “Brother Louie”
The "something" he's looking for - I think he's just talking about personality. Bring something to the table. But yeah, it ain't Shakespeare, regardless of its inspiration.

May 31, 2019 on The Number Ones: Paul Anka’s “(You’re) Having My Baby” (Feat. Odia Coates)
My memory of this song, while it was on the charts, is lying in the dark at night with my little clock-radio on - I was 12 - and it sounded like she was singing a capella. You could hardly hear the instrumentation. And it was so beautiful. It really stood out in its languor.
