"It has the most in common, sonically, with their 2009 album Everything Goes Wrong" !!! This is good news.

Nope! They're consistently extremely good and, even if they weren't, In Evening Air gives them a pass for life from me.

This song was the first volley in the feud between Katy Perry and Sedaka. Perry would take her time crafting a response, retaliating nine years later by being born.

I'm crushed. The absolute greatest. "The dead know what they're doing when they leave this world behind."

Yeah I've generally liked these new songs, but I am not happy that half of them have had "We're just always on our phones these days maaaaaaan" lyrics.

I think this song is really good, but this lyric video is, um, not.

This is a wild hill to die on. Truly amazing stuff! All this best American band talk is fun, though! Throwing this one into contention: The Velvet Underground. 4 albums, all amazing, all in different ways.

Man, I love Television too, but feel like the greatest American band has to have more than 2 hours of music.

The second Vivian Girls album is underrated as hell

I took the "Janet loved the record" as more of an explanation that the new record isn't why she left, at least as far as Carrie is aware. Didn't really take it as her saying Janet's being two-faced. In Carrie's defense, I definitely feel like I've seen her take a lot of the heat in regards to Janet leaving. Haven't seen anyone jump to the conclusion that Corin pushed Janet out, you know? And that feels really unfair. We don't know exactly why she left (and, honestly, I don't think it's our business), so it grosses me out how much I'm seeing people assume this is a power grab from Carrie or Annie Clark or whatever. I totally agree that I hate seeing S-K subject to internet drama, but I also get that staying off social media in situations like this is easier said than done.

July 16, 2019 on Carrie Brownstein Comments On Janet Weiss’ Departure From Sleater-Kinney
Janet's amazing and this is a huge bummer, but....I bet Sleater-Kinney will continue to be a good band? Feel pretty good about the odds here! also Call The Doctor whips ass, I'll be plenty happy if the next next S-K album is approximately as good as Call The Doctor

June 24, 2019 on Woodstock 50 May Be Back On At New Venue
You know, I was really hoping Dedicated would get on this list, but I understand. Emotion was a real modern pop masterpiece, while Dedicated is simply a very good album. And that kind of followup just doesn't get on lists like this wait hold on Thank U, Next made it?

Count me in the Laughing Stock > Spirit of Eden camp, but both are obviously incredible. Going straight through those two and into the solo album is two hours of transcendence. Also, I will forever find it absolutely nuts that his final released piece of music was for the Kelsey Grammer vehicle Boss. That's up there with "Orson Welles is Unicron" for bizarre final works.
