Not sure if he was referencing this particular track, but Rostam from Vampire Weekend tweeted today: "top 40 synth sounds from a few years ago but with more reverb on the vocals: indie in 2k14. no thank you." Sounds about right.
3 years, 4 months between In Rainbows and King of Limbs. It's been 3 years, 7 months since King of Limbs.
I really don't think Hayes was purposely trying to bait some crazy right-wing blogger who may or may not have been watching at home at the time with his Girl Talk reference.
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
or if their taste and judgment are just terrible
"...Adele collaborator Adele, sleep-rock king Danger Mouse, and One Direction frontman/sought-after song doctor Ryan Tedder..." pretty cool that adele is collaborating with herself and that One Direction swiped Tedder away from OneRepublic. but yeah, awful album. got remotely excited at the announcement, hoping they'd turn things around from what they've been churning out on autopilot for a while now. maybe with the iPhone 7?
I don't know about you all, but my thought on hearing Sam Smith's original was DEFINITELY "This great pop song by an rising star who's open and proud about his sexuality really could use a touch of misogyny."
Nothing beats the Pokemon theme dub
And here's Happy Jack White at the very same baseball game. (Seriously, take a bunch of still photographs of someone throwing a baseball pitch and they're bound to look "sad" in at least one of them.)
Detroit Free Press: "Jack White turns frustration into triumph at Fox." And: "By the time he broke out the Kay Hollowbody guitar for 'Seven Nation Army,' the 2¾-hour show certainly had found its purpose, and he had found peace with the evening." Was he frustrated at times with the crowd? Yeah. But to suggest he was annoyed to the point of vowing to never return like this headline does is a bit sensational, no?
I agree 100% with the sentiment of wanting something to happen here to make false accusers less likely to accuse. But doesn't this present the same conundrum of jail time or some other sort of punishment? Would dragging her ass through the court system make someone who was actually raped less likely to come forward about it because they're afraid they won't have sufficient evidence to prove anything and then could also have their ass dragged through the court system?
nah, i think that just means we have different tastes
Even if she's not a talentless weirdo who broke up the Beatles (which the posts you link to don't even seem to claim), that performance was pretty bad.
easily a song of the year contender for me. this is so beautiful
i'd hardly say she was pushed. the reporter noticed a common thread among her influences and asked her a question about it. she answered. it's not like he went into this interview with ASK LDR WHETHER SHE WANTS TO DIE on his notepad
but it's not the journalist's fault that a ton of other people just ran with the soundbite - why attack the guardian in trying to make clear the context?
the original guardian piece made it pretty clear it was in context of a discussion, too: ""I wish I was dead already," Lana Del Rey says, catching me off guard. She has been talking about the heroes she and her boyfriend share – Amy Winehouse and Kurt Cobain among them – when I point out that what links them is death and ask if she sees an early death as glamorous. "I don't know. Ummm, yeah." And then the death wish."
can't we just make it "get lucky" again?
Alexandra - Hamilton Leithauser
At this point, we should just assume a scheduled Morrissey show will be canceled and just report when he actually performs, right?
I always give someone a second chance.
should have learned by now that joke never goes over well
wait, this girl has beef because less than 1% of pharrell's video vaguely resembles 3% of her video? give me a break
"You Are Your Mother's Child" has actually been out for a bit now - he did a studio version for the film "Stuck In Love."
official merch line as precursor for tour?
This album is infectious. That bass line in "Seasons" has been rattling in my brain for days.
why am i not surprised that this happened in bridgeport
Sounds to me like this is more of a store management issue than an actual RSD issue. From the same article: "But Daly is a heavy buyer—last year, he claimed to have purchased more RSD vinyl than any shop on the East Coast—and as the Record Store Day list grows, he becomes more worried." Can you really credibly boast about buying more stock than anyone else and then wonder why you maybe have some left over?
You know, I saw the Coachella one and my initial thought was "OMG how dumb LOLZ" and thought the same thing when I started watching this one. But then I wondered, would I do the same thing? If a camera were in my face at an event that's supposed to be promoting the hottest rising acts, wouldn't I maybe feel a little pressure to not admit that I didn't know what the hell this person was talking about? I'm just legitimately curious about how I would react if some "newscaster" was was asking me so assuredly about a band that I'd think in my head I should have heard of. I'd like to think I'd do the thing that makes sense and say "Never heard of them." But I'm not 100% sure. ANYWAY thanks Jimmy Kimmel for that exercise in introspection.
Each of these solo Walkmen tracks has left me thinking "there's something missing here." And it's the rest of the Walkmen.
My favorites that I'd have feigned outrage over had they been excluded (Hotel Yorba, Apple Blossom, Hello Operator, Black Math) are all here. Carry on!
can't wait for the uproar over macklemore's text to daft punk saying he's glad they won
