I really don't think Hayes was purposely trying to bait some crazy right-wing blogger who may or may not have been watching at home at the time with his Girl Talk reference.

I don't know about you all, but my thought on hearing Sam Smith's original was DEFINITELY "This great pop song by an rising star who's open and proud about his sexuality really could use a touch of misogyny."

Was he frustrated at times with the crowd? Yeah. But to suggest he was annoyed to the point of vowing to never return like this headline does is a bit sensational, no?
I agree 100% with the sentiment of wanting something to happen here to make false accusers less likely to accuse. But doesn't this present the same conundrum of jail time or some other sort of punishment?
Would dragging her ass through the court system make someone who was actually raped less likely to come forward about it because they're afraid they won't have sufficient evidence to prove anything and then could also have their ass dragged through the court system?
Even if she's not a talentless weirdo who broke up the Beatles (which the posts you link to don't even seem to claim), that performance was pretty bad.
i'd hardly say she was pushed. the reporter noticed a common thread among her influences and asked her a question about it. she answered. it's not like he went into this interview with ASK LDR WHETHER SHE WANTS TO DIE on his notepad
but it's not the journalist's fault that a ton of other people just ran with the soundbite - why attack the guardian in trying to make clear the context?
the original guardian piece made it pretty clear it was in context of a discussion, too:

Sounds to me like this is more of a store management issue than an actual RSD issue. From the same article:

Can you really credibly boast about buying more stock than anyone else and then wonder why you maybe have some left over?
You know, I saw the Coachella one and my initial thought was "OMG how dumb LOLZ" and thought the same thing when I started watching this one.
But then I wondered, would I do the same thing? If a camera were in my face at an event that's supposed to be promoting the hottest rising acts, wouldn't I maybe feel a little pressure to not admit that I didn't know what the hell this person was talking about? I'm just legitimately curious about how I would react if some "newscaster" was was asking me so assuredly about a band that I'd think in my head I should have heard of. I'd like to think I'd do the thing that makes sense and say "Never heard of them." But I'm not 100% sure.
