Why is it every time I agree with dansolo he just says something stupid immediately afterwards.
Hey inthedeadofknight. Musician over here. I get the hyperbole might be annoying sometimes, but if you truly believe Annie Clark is not one of the best guitarists in "indie music", you're either not very in touch with your own musicality or flat-out in denial. The girl not only rips and has the left (AND RIGHT) hand technique of a highly respected conservatory musician, but her chords and voicings are miles away better than most of her contemporaries who rely on just lazily adding a seventh to sound "interesting" (I'm looking at you, DIIV and every single Captured Tracks band). Good night!
HONESTLY there's something hilarious about hearing Rivers sing "pump it up into me please daddy" on 1 More Hit and I lowkey can't stop listening...
Color me surprised, but I never thought we'd see the day where Weezer releases two good albums in a single year.
I cringed a little at him singing "it be feeling right tho". I love Rostam and most of his work, but he can be a little bit of a trend chaser which is somewhat annoying. Also, Wallows? The great value version of The 1975? Really?
I feel like this was sort of a missed opportunity. It would've been good to hear the tracks updated and closer to her current aesthetic/production style but this literally sounds like the 2008 version with better vocals. I guess it does what it's supposed to, but definitely a very safe move.
https://www.hollywoodintoto.com/boots-riley-venezuela-cia-starving/ He has literally spent at least a few years taking money from the Venezuelan govt and then stirring up propaganda with weird US rhetorics about race and class that don't really apply to our country (Venezuela). Just him comparing entire families being kidnapped and murdered by the govt in our communities to him growing up rough in Oakland makes me wanna walk into the ocean.
Boots Riley is a gaslighter genocide apologist PoS and fuck everyone who praises him tbh. I also keep thinking about how cringe Merrill was for the "I'm taking a white guilt class" narrative for her last record.
Not that I'm unaware that Tom's reviews are usually fully complacent to the popular discourse of any given time, but those lines coming from a middle-aged white dude about an album who isn't even that bad is pretty cringy, especially because LDR's dumb statements aren't even that problematic to begin with. I'm not a LDR fan by any means and I don't like her music or persona generally aside from a few tracks, but my God am I tired of people not letting other people have opinions, ever, and that affecting the way their work is evaluated in the real world. This is becoming just as tiresome and logically bankrupt as shit religious moralists believe. I don't mean to whine about cancel culture or whatever because that's lame and dumb and missing the point, but I think we should be more worried about the way that we're normalizing authoritarian attitudes instead of bitching about some shit LDR tweeted one random day.
In my home state in Venezuela, our very corrupt governor frequently uses most of the incoming energy to power his blockchain. We don't have power for hours at a time on any given day. What's the opposite of a flex?
Burn in hell fucking 90's has-been edgelord.
Ariel Pink is a dirtbag abuser and no, the fucking Boss is not worse than him. Why is this even up for debate?
Wait I replied to this before realizing this is sarcasm and this is also the dude who called himself a commie on the last Phoebe thread. You people are hilarious!
Well to be fair, twitter libs are pretty cringey but not as cringey as genocide-defending communists.
Ah yes, why does anyone dare not think of the privileged white women? Truly a travesty.
