Usually I play her a song I am CRAZY about and she just kinda shrugs. There are a couple of artists that I really like that she really likes. And she hardly remembers the names too, which makes it all the better when she’s super consistent and pleasantly surprised when I tell her the name. She usually says, “oh, I do love them.” She loves Vince, Alex G, Young Fathers, Burial, Rhye. Elevated taste I say. Then again, she has no time for WoD or Sufjan or The Hotelier, so I also worry that I can’t really trust her about... anything.

Had a longer comment typed out that involved my wife and Alex G and her appreciation for him much more than others I like but I lost it and suffice to say I also think House of Sugar is fantastic.

Hol up I need a plane ticket first and I have to blow off the special event at the children’s museum tomorrow but I’m sure that’ll be fine

Two listens in Alex Cameron - sad to see it feels like kinda a letdown to me. The singles (esp. Miami Memory and Divorce) were great but some of the songs just don’t really go anywhere. Anyway, reporting this just makes me feel sorta 😕😕

Same on all fronts. Nothing of hers has really done much for me before this song, but it's undeniable.

I mean Chris Farren is obviously spicy hot af, but his hair is really what seals the deal.

The different colored-shirts in each promo photo is a really nice touch. Love the stitching too. I guess the sick boygenius jackets they wore on the last tour were Lucy's idea.

This actually reminds of Sharon Van Etten's Remind Me Tomorrow from earlier this year in a lotta ways, except blown out to crazy proportions.

@James, HEYYYYY I was gonna call "SugarHouse" Alex's best Springsteen impression! You stole it from me! I know we cherish him for his ability to pull off the eclecticism, but damn could I take a whole album of *that*

September 10, 2019 on Album Of The Week: (Sandy) Alex G House Of Sugar
The middle section of this album is really as weird as people are saying, and weirdly beautiful. Huge respect to an artist like Alex G, who can write absolutely beautiful songs and yet often insists on rubbing dirt and filters all over them to make 'em more ugly.

Pretty stunned by the artistic change here from their last album, and the depth of their vision and their commitment to its execution. Hype levels through the stratosphere.

My word, both of these singles have been absolutely gorgeous. Even after only two songs, it's clear they totally nailed it with this one. Wager on percent chance beansy cries during his first full-album listen?

An absolute king. Really impressed by the songs themselves but also the messages and goals of the songs. Can't wait to see these guys on tour again soon as the last show i went to was so very fun.

On another note, 'Much After Feeling' (especially, but both) sounds like all those Shook remixes I downloaded a bunch of in, like, 2011. As a result, no, these songs do not sound like Peripheral Vision, but they fricking rule. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tv2XJjp5TUc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F7hmr3n2e2E Don't make me defend this claim.

It was the opposite of condescending - deeply considered while placing her alongside all-time greats. I'd argue it was an incredibly generous critical appraisal. She should be fucking flattered that she got such a deep investigation of her music from such a phenomenal writer/thinker.

Gonna go back and relisten. I haven't really listened to it since it was released and I was disappointed, but I've seen this take floating around enough that it's worth investigating.
