At one point or another I’ve tried every album of theirs multiple times, both upon release and years later. They have some songs I don’t hate but it’s just middle-of-the-road background music to me. As you mentioned, I just don’t get the massive, gigantic amounts of hype that’s piled into their every move.
They are the absolute best at making average indie rock.
Speaking of being a little late, a few days ago ApacheSlomo and I published our 50 Best Albums of 2021. The more I look at it, the more proud I become: https://thecircleoffifths.wordpress.com/2022/01/11/the-50-best-albums-of-2021/
My dad has played banjo at varying frequencies for my entire life. What I’m saying is, time to start a hardcore band with my dad. (Really would like to know what song(s) they use banjo in so I can show him…)
GEL is super underrated. Not for nothing, they made mine and ApacheSlomo’s 50 Best Albums of 2021 list. A lot of good hardcore on there: https://thecircleoffifths.wordpress.com/2022/01/11/the-50-best-albums-of-2021/
Wow, I’ve had “One Step Inside…” on a random playlist for years and still had no idea this album was anniversary-article worthy. I guess I’ll check the rest out.
I’ve been in the top 0.05% of Destroyer listeners on Spotify the last two years, might break into the 0.005% this year with a new album. Also, new Destroyer and FJM in the span of a few weeks?? Life is good.
It’s a good thing they’re not that good anyway, huh Bloc?
Hearing him say “…the other one…uh..cassette.” warms my heart a lot more than it probably should.
My body is more than ready. My body is foaming and frothing. My body is oiled and greased. My body needs it.
I don’t know about a proper list, but Haunted Visions by Pledge is absolutely my favorite and the best of the year in my opinion. The rest of my list would have: Regional Justice Center Supine Koma Closer Through Dying Eyes GEL Gilded Age Filth Is Eternal Cerce Militarie Gun Full of Hell And of course, Portrayal of Guilt.
I’ve listened to it quite regularly since it was released in January so I guess I’m not hearing what you’re hearing. Monch over live instruments is a thrill to me, he has some great bars and great singing parts throughout.
A Magnificent Day For An Exorcism by th1rt3en (Pharoahe Monch) is easily the best rap album this year. He’ll never get his due even though he’s one of the greatest to ever do it. Doe or Die II by AZ also deserves a mention.
I watched the entire thing and was live tweeting it, had a lot of fun interactions. Much in the way that you’re a Three 6 super fan, I am for Bone. I had E. 1999 Eternal on fucking cassette, and I used to pull the sleeve out and draw all the pictures on it. I was obsessed. That said, I scored it 8-10-2 for Three 6, but that’s only because Bone left off A LOT of their better songs. They didn’t even play “1st of the Month” for fucks sake. All I’m all it was one of my favorite verzuz shows, and I really hope that Bizzy line makes a crack into meme-dom because it’s hilarious.
Yep, and it also says it’s going to be “2 CD”
Rid of Me next week, then we can get the lists finalized.
He took his assault rifle into the heat knowing full well what would happen. People of color are shot and killed by the police for nothing and this piece of shit murdered two people with no repercussions. You can fuck right off bud.
Impressive! Congratulations on that, really cool.
Just want everyone here to know that El Goodo is a Rittenhouse sympathizer. He doesn’t think that the little white supremacist piece of worthless putrid shit did anything wrong.
(Thought the edit button was coming this past Monday? I needs it)
