I hate the fact that that useless asshole has ruined NewsRadio for me.
I'm going with Sting and Sade also.
The last line is my favorite part too.
Agreed. These are all fantastic.
That also would be fun--ot the #11s.
Oh yes--that would be a lot of fun!
Yay! It is such a great song.
1. Annie Lennox 2. TLC 3. Madonna 4. Faith No More 5. INXS 6. Go West 7. 10,000 Maniacs
Watched Encanto with my son on New Years Day, we both loved it. Hope it gets a #1 this week.
As with pretty much all cool things in life, my brother introduced me to King Missile -- Take Stuff From Work, Cheesecake Truck, etc. I had the Happy Hour album, but my favorite was always "I'm Sorry." Every once in a while for no reason "I did it, it was my fault/I farted in the church/I'm sorry I did many, many bad things/And I am so sorry" pops into my head. Fun band.
Whenever I see the word Apogee, I immediately think of Lodge 49: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7391512/

I grew up in the Pacific Northwest, but went to graduate school in the midwest and for the past 20 years have been very familiar with many of the landmarks that cstolliver reminiscences about.
88 Songs! Thank you again for doing these PoorLittleFool, it is a lot of fun to see and chat about what else was peaking at the time.
Wow. I did not know that. It would have been a great Donna Summer song.
I love the "Where Did Our Love" go part in Tainted Love also!
Yes, I always like to read when people move on from pop music into a decent life afterward. Now I want to know what happened to Cheryl Pollack (I also remember that Marla Hanson TV movie).
Sometimes it is also young girls who are more interested in the cute boy singers. That was me with a lot of this type of music in the late 80s, but then I grew up to really like more types of music. I was too old and into other things to like this song, but I bet there were a lot of 11-13 year old girls who were into it and who later grew to love music more widely.
All Mayo (Hellmann's Miracle Whip) etc. is disgusting.
I'm going with Annie Lennox and Peter Gabriel.
It was caught up in the record company chart manipulations of the 1990s. I don't think it was released as a single until very late, and charted out of the top 10.

Congratulations Irish! A well-deserved first comment!
I love "Cover Me." It is one of the few Bruce Springsteen songs I have in my collection. I know I should appreciate his work more, but I've always been take it or leave it on most his music. I appreciate the skill, I won't change the channel, but it does not do a lot for me (I now will apologize for my lack of taste to 99.9 percent of TNOCS).
I also am not a fan of What's Up. Glad to meet others who share this view, as I know most love it.
It really is one of the best. And its been years since I've seen it, but I recall "Babe: Pig in the City" was pretty great too.
I loved him in Blackadder! Loved him in Jeeves and Wooster too. I loved him and Stephen Fry in both so much that when I was working at Hollywood Video in the mid-90s I ordered The Best of Fry and Laurie on VHS (they let you order videos at a discount), and I really loved that too. It was kind of weird seeing him in House after all of that.
Thank you for compiling all this. So many great songs! 1. Nirvana 2. Tom Cochrane 3. Guns n Roses 4. Technotronic 5. Toad the Wet Sprocket 6. Shakespears Sister 7. Smyth/Henley 8. Soup Dragons 9. INXS 10. Del Amitri 11. Madonna 12. P.M. Dawn/EnVogue 13. Charles & Eddie
Cool story about being in the video for Drive! I always really liked this song, and am happy when I hear it.
Digging in the Dirt is absolutely a 10. Not sure if it is my favorite Peter Gabriel song, but it is close. Excellent video also.
