Of Montreal’s music is a celebration of the messy psyche a Party beacon for quirky misfits to lose themselves to and I’m not going to dig into Barnes personal life because that seems to go against what being an Of Montreal is all about. When I said the conversation sucks I meant the overall discussion, because the Internet is no place for nuance. .

Definitely my album of choice for the 2010s. Nothing else sounds like it and it has a very heavy sense of manic depressive anguish that I have find terribly relatable.

Favorite Wye Oak related release this decade? Going to have to be Civilian, but you could easily make a case for any of the 4 releases and especially The Flock of Dimes album which was remarkable.

Deerhunter hasn’t done anything less than essential listening since their unfortunately named debut. Seriously, everything they put on wax is worth your time.

Can we get maybe one biopic about a musician or band who isn’t...you know cut from the same lily white Dude cloth?

:/ This is pretty good but I am just so frustrated by the doubling down on the toxic energy.

Now, this is actually the sort of gospel music I can get behind.

Now, there’s the sort of Good Christian boy I can get behind. Kanye is a much better collaborator and producer, but Prince truly is a surefire contender for best human musician.

Omni opened up for Cate Len Bon when I saw her earlier this year and he was great! fell into the tradition of live Washed Out where you’re left blown away by how much sound one person and a sound rig can make.

A lot of people want to sound like Toro Y Moi except for Toro Y Moi.

With a year with releases by Danny Brown, Billy Woods, Aesop Rock and Tobacco, Rico Nasty, Little Simz, jpegmafia, and clipping there is no real reason to spend time with a half baked, undercooked vanity project by someone that still thinks the Grammys and celebrity are important. TL;DR: Was hoping to get some more Righteous Gemstones references.

Some of the best, most modern sounding production I have heard in a Cohen song.

At least carseat is kind of quirky and has that furry thing going for him whereas Whitney seem pretty bro-y and well off trust fund kids like a spoiled Real Estate. They could play circles around Me and are probably hard working musicians, but there’s a whole lot of something missing ya know?

Wish other post punk bands had the Wire or Fall’s (RIP) work ethic. Looking at you Siouxsie and the Banshees and Chameleons!

Not sure what I want out of an AnCo release anymore...I guess more of Avey Tate’s Latest solo LP and less of Panda Bear’s (still think Buoys is underrated).

If the last ELO album cover isn’t a shot of that spaceship’s presumably velvet and velour deck space this band means nothing to me.

Funnily enough I think the one man recording studio approach that Lyne has to his songwriting will wind up being more influential than the Beatles.

If you know you know. Why would anyone find anything appealing, relatable or inspiring about a performer like Lizzo? Obviously you probably don’t have any interaction with a single person in the LGBT+ rainbow, because that’s the easiest way besides the extremely, glaringly obvious reasons why Lizzo would be appealing. Good grief.

I really hope Jamie Stewart can get as much healing rest as possible. I have seen Weyes Blood, Joanna Newsom, The Chromatics, Deerhunter, Cate Le Bon, and I am going to stop there because this is not about me, but I want to say i see a lot of shows and this Xiu Xiu show i saw this year with Thor Harris on drums and Christopher Pravdica was the best show I have seen in my entire life. Largely because of Stewart who commanded the stage with a level of ferocity the dude from future Islands can only muster a pale imitation of. He’s such an incredibly underrated guitarist, percussionist and vocalist. If the Xiu are playing anywhere near you in the future do everything you can to see them!
