"Blinding Lights" is the better of the two songs but damn "Heartless" is also stuck in my head. No one does debauchery quite like him.

This is a great list. I'm not going to do a list(thoughts too scattered to come up with one. Maybe next year), but if I did one, I'd throw in Caroline Polachek's Pang. What a strong debut solo album. It's been on repeat since it dropped back in October. Also, shout-out to Gallant's Sweet Insomnia album. Definitely one of the best R&B albums to drop this year(along with Jacquees's new one).

In those cases, it's because Sony currently only has the rights to reissue his post-95 catalog. I don't mind though, those albums have some gems on there.

Anyway, I read this last night and was so weirded out. This is something you save for the memoir down the road, Goldlink!

The fan remix? Yes, lots of people. There's a whole mini-genre about this.

When it was announced that he was dropping two songs this week, I had a feeling one of them was going to be similar to what you're describing. I'm guessing "Blinding Lights" is the pop single. Also, speaking to your point, when Saint-Laurent did a remix to "I Feel It Coming" last year that gave it an 80's-era sheen, his voice fits so perfectly over that kind of production. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cikO_P9dH-c

I mean, he had to switch it up for Beauty. Remember, Kiss Land was similar to his Trilogy mixtapes in terms of sound, but it didn't do that great(I also think the same team that worked with him for the mixtapes weren't there for that album). So, he went more pop, but still kept his core sound for the most part(I can't think of another singer doing "The Hills" like him).

Their charts are more about streaming(I don't think they track radio play like Billboard does). To me, they're the equivalent of the old Cash Box charts at this point: useful but not going to overtake Billboard.

I think if Starboy was shorter it would have been a stronger album, but it has some gems on there(the title track, "True Colors," "A Lonely Night" and "I Feel It Coming" come to mind).

One of the fun things I sometimes like to do is look at the list of number one albums from the Billboard 200 on Wikipedia and it's always fun to see the albums that dominate for months on end. Saturday Night Fever being one of them. I mean, look at this from 1978: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Billboard_200_number-one_albums_of_1978

Interestingly, she's not listed as a "feat" on any of the streaming services and looking at the credits on TIDAL, she's not even listed as a background vocalist on the song(Alex Lilly and Roger Manning Jr. are listed).

Both songs are really good. Granted Party hasn't been totally gone(he's written songs for other artists and he was on Summer Walker's album that came out in October), but yeah he's gone mostly silent since 2017. I'm hoping we get announcements for dvsn and Majid Jordan's upcoming albums too.

"The Grammys’ love for H.E.R. is kind of inexplicable given that she has no radio hits and no one I know listens to her" She definately has charted songs on the Hot 100 and the R&B charts, although you're correct she doesn't have a hit yet. I like some of her stuff but I would hope not having "hits" doesn't preclude someone from getting nominated for an award. Otherwise, Vampire Weekend, Big Thief and a lot of artists shouldn't be on here.
