Good fucking month for jazz it seems
I adore the DJ Kicks series (Kruder+Dorfmeister and DJ Koze's contributions are arguably their best respective 'albums') and I'm really excited to see what the lads have been spinning!
I really want to do a write up/deep discog dive on Matt, he's one of the few artists I know who changes their sound every album but is still *HIMSELF* emphatically.

Todd in the Shadows is cowering somewhere
Elori Saxl- ambient fievel is glauque- french pop feu!Chatterton- also french pop Bastarda- Portuguese folk music with a jazz twist Yola- Country soul Jaubi- Pakistani jazz-funk Arooj Aftab- Arabic classical with a pop twist
1) Got picked up by a record label. 2) Turns out that a jazz group I really like already knows and has listened to my interviewing/podcasting work. DOIN THANGS
Billy knew his hooks, no one can take that away.
In all seriousness, such a great film and a perfect combo of 80s cheese and synth ice for the score.
REAL HUMAN BEEEEEEEAAAAAN
Oooooo that Bronze Nazareth is *nice*
This fractured art-pop-rap (these guys and Peggy at the forefront) is really exciting to me. I just wish it was made under less sorrowfilled circumstances. Rest in Power to Groggs and I hope the rest of IR are taking care of themselves.
I still think Actor is her peak, but I think that's due to how terrifying that album is and how cohesive the narrative is. Strange Mercy is probably her most interesting and thrilling music wise. The title track is just a majestic gut punch.
We are truly blessed on this day
