This was my least favorite song on the album after a couple listens, but good goddamn watching them rip through it like that just made me love it as much as my favorites. What a gift of an album. We don’t deserve this band.
I love a great vanilla ice cream, but they are hard to come by unless you make it yourself or live next to a real deal creamery IMO.
Appreciating the irony of a user named “superdonkeypiss” repeatedly telling someone else to own their own shit.

Hey man. I hope for my sake and the rest of ours that this isn’t the last comment on this site ever. Take care of yourself and try not to get caught up in these internet melee’s if it’s not good for your mental health. Easier said than done, I know!
Thinking about this a lil more. I thinks big part of that is that Pinegrove is trying to sound like Pinegrove, despite an ever-evolving roster, whereas Big Thief have had the same members since Masterpiece, and use the chemistry they’ve developed over the years to find new ways to sound like Big Thief.
Cardamom didn’t almost get wiped off the face of the Earth by a natural disaster tho
Chris walked so Rachel could fly. The column is in very good hands!
Beabadoobee and Matty Healy could absolutely NAIL the sound that Torquil tried to post-You’re Ex Lover is Dead and I would love to see them try
I know it’s hard for people (I haven’t been to a show since I saw BT in 2019), but this is a band where the live performances are an opportunity to hear the same songs in a different light. For instance, listen to how they take a woozy reverie like “Black Diamonds”, and just blow it the fuck up (~4:30 in the second video for the lazy). https://youtu.be/BAehEwKfnCE https://youtu.be/EhzSBa9FCy0 When I saw them, they did the same thing to “Magic Dealer” and basically turned it into a black metal song. Unreal.
You’ll never guess what he found in his box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch
I am a huge fan of both bands, who, in 2016, thought Cardinal sounded like the work of a band with limitless potential, and Masterpiece was just another remarkably solid indie rock band with some catchy tunes. Now, Pinegrove is out here making slight and subtle variations on the same (very, very good, imo) indie rock records, and Big Thief are making fucking MAGIC. Ain’t music wild?
Vanilla might be one of the most precious, complex, and miraculous spices we have on this planet… and most people only associate it with bland sugar-flavored ice cream. Smdh.
Career* sorry I am on like 4 hours of sleep the last 48 hours.
Same reason DJ Khaled has a music creator despite having the musical acuity of a dirty diaper; FAKE IT TIL YA MAKE IT BABY
That, plus it was the Mrs.’ request and right now what she says GOES.
Oh man that would have been so funny. Hope y’all are adjusting to parenthood well and the Mrs. is healing nicely!
Baby Padfoot was born today, which also happens to be my birthday. Mom did her last pushing to “Weak” by Wet, and he took his first breaths of air to “Say Yes” by Elliott Smith. His name also happens to be Elliott. I swear I didn’t plan it that way, I just put the playlist on shuffle and held on for dear life. Love y’all. Go spend irresponsible amounts of money on bandcamp today.

Pretty funny that she is releasing an album called Pompeii on the same day that Bastille’s new album is coming out. This week is all about Rolo Tomassi for me. So far the singles seem to amplify the chaos of Time Will Die while somehow making everything more streamlined and… poppy? Idk. It’s gonna destroy.

Fucking wild that this happens the same day you post the piece on “A Whole New World”. Just a crazy coincidence. Quick, someone do the math and prove that 311 is somehow behind this.
I also don’t know what the hell to call Empty Inside except for MY SHIT. I also dig A Rose Dying in the Rain.
I felt kinda meh on Be The Cowboy when it first came out but now I think it’s her best record, easily. I still might prefer certain songs on Makeout Creek and Puberty 2, but the way the songs on Be The Cowboy hang together, despite none of them sounding the same, makes for a pretty dizzying effect. I also love how it’s structured such that everything hinges on the mirror-balled out chorus of “Nobody” at the dead center of the tracklist. Hoping this new one grows on me, but honestly it’s just nice to hear her voice on new songs again. She doesn’t owe us shit, especially after the way that all went down.
Jokes aside, thrilled to hear everything went well! Congrats again.
Working on the labor playlists now. One slow (think Wild Pink and Kevin Morby), and one fast (the songs we got drunk to in college). My dream was to time the deliver so that “With Arms Wide Open” by Creed is playing when my baby is born. Are you saying I should give up on that dream?
This probably doesn’t mean much, but I’m sure a lot of overpaid executives at Spotify are not happy about this post making the front page of Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/Music/comments/sedezf/canceled_spotify_premium/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
Yanno, I went on record saying that this whole thing was pointless, but when I woke up yesterday morning I realized I had been wanting to cancel Spotify for years (first for killing messages, then for each terrible UI decision, being dicks about family sharing, etc) but never followed through. So I finally did it (moved my Spotify Family plan to Apple One). Now I’m enjoying Taylor Swift in Dolby Atmos and never looking back.
At the one I went to, I remember Dicky threw the clock at midnight and I saw it knock someone in the head real good. Great time, even as a lame sober high school kid.
Managed to catch them twice in high school. The first time I slipped while skanking in a concrete skating rink and thought I broke my elbow. The second time my dad drove me and my buddies to their New Years Eve show because it was snowing out, and we had to change a flat in the parking lot. It was so slippery that the Jack nearly slipped out of from under the chassis. Both were great shows, but I probably should have knocked on wood before I left home.
Pass me the aux bitches we are going long https://youtu.be/-ZZfVQ178EY

It’s a common fetish for a doting man to ballerina on a coffee table, cock in hand
The funniest part to me is that Observatory sounds more like the last National album than it did to anything that the Wrens ever released. But that’s like one chuckle in a sea of bummers. Team Chas.
There’s a moment in the DBT cover when MJ and Karly nail a harmony while Xandy is ripping up his lap steel. Sublime stuff. Love this band so much.
Need to clarify that the beer is shitty (cheap) but the rock n roll is top shelf
Between this and Greet Death, it’s a great day for shitty- beer-battered indie rock
