As someone who was basically too young to follow or know about any of this blog bullshit as it was going on and was introduced to CYHSY later, devoid of any context or narrative, I think it's a classic album. For whatever that's worth. I also like Some Loud Thunder, although it's not nearly as good obv.
I love their self-titled debut. (/This Is A Pinback CD, whatev)
Not directly, but he does say that music is "the one thing I failed to quit," which sounds encouraging!
"I can't even look at reviews anymore/ I score an 8.6 on a fucking Par 4"
I don't think the two are related. As miss_merboy says, this collab has already been in the can for a while. Like, here's video of Le1f performing it live over a year ago.
Wow she's really moving through the whole Friends cast.
I believe that is Foo Fighters drum tech Yeti Ward!
Well, I've seen midcity called a mixtape, and various places (including their official Bandcamp) billed CLPPNG as their debut album proper. But yeah, I guess you're right. Either way, the "Intro" from midcity is still maybe my favorite clipping. track.
Actually I think the drug test results aren't back yet, they just didn't find anything on him.
Hahaha that was amazing. Loved it. Pretty sure Conan nailed it- "That was a workout!"
Yeah, "Impossible Germany" is my favorite Wilco song most days.
This is great bc whenever I'm listening to Rihanna I'm always like "where's the Korn????"
Joe Howse, you're a true American hero.
I'm 21, and I can solidly vouch for the fact that it was still being played in the mid-to-late-aughts.
Pearl Jam are designing new turnstile tones for the NYC subway?
(Paging Dr. Blochead)
Yeah, seems a little weird that they just call him "Craig." Stars -- they're just like us! And as another antisocial shut-in, I too use Seamless.
(was gonna make a "no rest for the chazwicked" joke here but good sense prevailed)
He pled no contest to supplying the ecstasy, but he was cleared of the sexual battery charges due to a lack of evidence. My wording was a little misleading though -- he didn't actually admit to slipping the ecstasy into her drink without her knowledge, just supplying her with it. I've edited to reflect that better.
You're right. I took it out.
Painted Shut is really, really great.
One of my favorite albums of all time, and one of the first albums that I truly loved. My hip older cousin gave me a CD copy as a part of my musical education when I was first starting to get into music seriously (yeah, I know, I'm super young), and it just blew me away. I probably don't return to it as often as I should / it deserves, but every time I do, it blows me away all over again. There's so much great wordplay and so many eminently quotable lines, but for some reason Finn's hilariously matter-of-fact retelling of the Adam and Eve story always stuck with me: "I guess I heard about original sin I heard the dude blamed the chick I heard the chick blamed the snake And I heard they were naked when they got busted And I heard things ain't been the same since"
From what I understand, there wasn't really a single moderator in duels. Each party involved would name a representative called a "second," and the two seconds together were supposed to make sure that the rules were followed and everything was fair. Not sure why I know so much about such a stupid thing.
