hearing some of the singles as stand alone track was initially confusing about what direction this album would take--but hearing the album as a whole recently really dropped those singles in place for me. I think the "little puzzles" aspect of their work has always been something at the forefront, but this album was such a visual and emotional journey to listen to from start to finish.

I think the singles can be potentially isolating in terms of how their laid out in the record themselves. I heard the record a few months ago, after the first two singles were released, and I was really surprised at how the singles really fell into place in the larger landscape of the record

really interesting to read about the backstory to Colorado, which I've always assumed was just about ending a relationship/losing a person you love (which in a sense guess still rings true). also pretty wild that a handful of lyrics off Shields relate back to Ed suffering with tinnitus. who knew

seriously, they have a great sense of humor about themselves, video made me laugh from start to finish. especially the sax take on "the hunt". GENIUS

or maybe he decided he could be independent and make a living on his OWN without having to reach in other people's pockets? baffled about why this is so hard to comprehend.

exactly. Ed and the whole of Grizzly Bear have been working nonstop for years to get to where they are currently. They're grown men, not 19 year olds.
