there are a multitude of reasons for the mess this country is in, no doubt, and nothing you said here is off at all. funny that now since the millennial children of those rich people all want to work in entertainment despite not being creative…its lead to worse entertainment. I would feel worse about the downfall of academia if we didn’t see millennials pervert it in the past two decades just as badly as the boomers did. Even as college became more and more difficult to afford, millions of millennials still went…only to get degrees in fields that were easier to graduate in & that made them feel special instead of in fields that need growth and workers. If you are not paying your own tuition, it is really easy to get a non practical degree and do something like major in Women’s Studies so you can then explain why you didn’t major in STEM… lol.
Not to mention all these BS art degrees that mean as much in the real world as this one means to Petty’s corpse. For every money hungry boomer there is a their child who wants the same money and twice the fulfillment in their “career”.
