“The Promise” is a ten.
“Supersonic” is a ten, and you know that we are freaks.
I kinda like Iron and Wine’s cover of “Such Great Heights.” But more to the point, leave Terry Gross alone.
“Superstar” is a ten. Would recommend Sonic Youth’s version as well.
This song is AWESOME. I loved it as an angsty goth kid in 1988 and I love it now. It’s charming and sweet. I give it a ten.
"Not Enough Time" is a 10, and it may be even sexier than "Need You Tonight."
I have the Chris Lowe vinyl Funko toy on my desk. He is my style icon!
In college we chanted “drink milk, go to church.”
Even as a teenager, I would have been like, “Tawny get down ... you’re gonna scratch the paint.”
“Life’s Too Good” is just packed with great songs. Your assessment of an infinity for “Birthday” sounds right!
“One” will always be a10 to me. I had a complicated relationship with my mother, and one of the most cathartic acts ever was going alone to her gravesite and singing along to that track.
I think Tom adds a minimum 3 points to any song that make for good drunk karaoke.
I’m sorry, but there is no way “Wanted Dead or Alive” is a ten when “With or Without You” is a nine. That is not the way the universe works.
Batman and the Boss have entered the chat room and demand clarification.
“Let it Be” would have been a terrific cover if they had just let Kate Bush do the honors. Her part in that track was awesome.
Son, you got a panty on your head.
Their 1991 “Woodface” is an incredible album. One my favorites of all time.
And she brought a purse full of 49 cent cassette singles for everyone ...
Jane Wiedlin is my favorite Go-Go and Joan of Arc!
“Hazy Shade of Winter” is an amazing cover. I think it’s one of those rare times the cover is better than the original.
Joe Biden deserves better than Jon Bon Jovi singing “Here Comes the Sun” on some pier.
I worked at a record store when that came out ... I remember mentally replacing “baby” with “Jesus” in those songs as to not experience too much cognitive dissonance when hearing Grant’s voice over the store’s speakers.
I cannot divorce the sound of Bon Jovi from the smell of my sister’s Aqua Net hair spray.
“I Want Your Sex” was my jam in 1987 when I clearly wasn’t getting any.
I know it’s a completely different guy, but Matthew Sweet’s album Girlfriend is one of my favorites, and “Winona” is a 10.
Crowded House AND “Time (Clock of the Heart)?!? I’m having a ten-gasm over here!
If “Gangnam Style” is an 8, then “Venus” is an 11.
I’d give the song on September 6 a 10. That song eats men for breakfast.
If you hate this song as much as I do, please find a copy of “American Psycho” and read the chapter on Genesis.
As said in “My Cousin Vinny” - “That is a lucid, intelligent, well-thought out objection ... overruled.”
I love this so much. My daughter also questions my love of the Pet Shop Boys — but she has full on embraced Kate Bush.
I read today’s “Bonus Beats” and realize there is just some music I will never listen to or care about, and that’s OK with me.
That is a great observation. My favorite Madonna tracks are those where she seems to be inhabiting another character - and my least favorite are those where she is reminding the world that she’s Madonna.
Trilogies are sick, unless they start with “The Phantom Menace.”
