I am very glad that everyone else seems to like this, because I love this, and it's the most I've ~felt~ Tyler's music since Bastard came out when I was in college. Some of his absolute best production too. This is awesome.

UGH pressed "submit" too soon. The point is, we mutually parted ways and never spoke again and I am PRETTY sure showing someone a brutal death scene on a first date is a bad move. LEARN FROM ME, STEREOGUM COMMUNITY. As an aside, my first date with my current girlfriend featured us talking about how much we love Suspiria for at least an hour. So. There's someone for everyone, you loons.

I was on a first date with a girl a couple years ago that ended with her excitedly coming back to my house to watch the opening scene of Suspiria, which I spent probably half an hour talking up as "one of the all time great movie scenes." We got a little stoned and it was pretty cute and flirty, and by all signs things were going well. Then we started watching the movie. Within a few minutes it was obvious she was not ~super~ into it, and it crossed my mind that maybe showing a girl a scene of two women being brutally murdered was like maybe not the best move on a first date? Sure enough, I paused it and asked her what she thought and she sorta mumbled a "pretty cool."

When I was 9 years old I went to a summer camp with just one tape (Hello Nasty) and my little Walkman and I would listen to it nonstop anytime I didn't have to be outside doing camp stuff. The camp scheduled a talent show for the last weekend and I signed up to do a lip sync to "Intergalactic" (I was 9). I didn't have the lyric sheet, just the tape, which I had copied from a CD that I had borrowed from my local library (this was 1999). So to learn the words, I would rewind and listen to "Intergalactic" over and over and over again...but I couldn't make out the words, so I just phonetically wrote out what I thought they were saying in order to convincingly lip sync the mysterious lyrics (I was 9). To this day, if that song comes on, I'll just mumble nonsense to their flow. At the last second I chickened out and decided not to go on. I was 9 but I still regret it. It would have been so so so stupid and fun. This is one of my strongest song-to-life associations. Every time I've gone on a stage to perform anything since has been an attempt to make up for chickening out of that one moment.

Can it be a permanent fixture to include the below on any suicide-related news items? "If you or someone you know needs help, you can call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1–800–273–8255 or go to SuicidePreventionLifeline.org to chat with someone online." Seriously, spread the word. I work for the SPC and our calls spike up like crazy around the time of celebrity deaths, which is both a bad thing (people are distraught) and a very good thing (they know they have someone to reach out to).

Yes, 100%. I was at the LA show reviewed above, second time seeing them, and seeing Nick live is transformative. Get as close as you possibly can. I was in the very-small-and-limited pit and during the encore he let the entire pit come up on stage with him, something like 30 people easy joining the Bad Seeds. Nothing turned to shit because he was our snake charmer and kept us under control. He commands so much respect, it's insane.

Even after knowing this album for a decade, I can still play almost any song and be so overwhelmed with feelings of not really grasping what this thing is but knowing that I want to swim in it and let it take me wherever it wants to go. It's brought me to tears when I didn't know I needed to cry, and it's made me feel warm when I didn't know I was cold. It's on my very short list of albums-I-can't-believe-exist.
