i always thought this was the one DJ song where the vocal melody wasn't necessarily the star. But the haunting, repetitive piano chords... to totally kill that part in your cover and still have it work this well is a testament to SVE
interesting venue choices
a good friend of mine's cousin is in this band he came over to NJ from Spain in the 4th grade - and then one day he was like so i went back to barcelona to visit my cousin and he's in this wildly popular band called Love of Lesbian, and we all got a good chuckle out of that. Anyway here they are on Stereogum - the Simulation is real folks

That line is beyond parody. I can't believe it's real
"Other shows like SNL still do a great job at finding ways to inspire great satire." Easily the most offensive and wrong opinion he's ever put out into the world
I think a lot of people are missing the concept here he's not talking about trump and nascar type white - he's talking himself, john b, jack harlow type white lot of people missing that point i feel
just checking back in on this thread finally... jesus i didnt think i could have been more clear that elon musk sucks major ass and is evil in his own special way. it was a sarcastic comment!
Ostensibly multiple people thought this album art was a good idea? or some singular (Liz??) just has a passion for graphic design I just like looking at things people make. Our time on this planet is finite.
by "ludicrous spectacle" do u mean having a baby with the absolute coolest dude in the world, making a zillion dollars off some animated gifs, and getting the raddest tattoo ever... ? i'm obvs goofing, but on some level this whole thing seems like a lesson in who laughs last (the "who" here being a very real segment of the pop. who do judge value/success in muskspring and NFT$$$ and.... well maybe not this tattoo actually, but basically, it's all still up for debate) it seems impossible to talk about her outside of ironic platitudes at this point. and for that i gotta give it up. she's reached post- level of something even if that level is very very bad
There are people out there who think grimes is as cool as ever and support all of her creative and/or life decisions of the recent years. I am one of them. WE Exist. deal with it jk
Now this is one crumb you're NOT gonna wanna vacuum up or something like that. maybe: They call themselves crumb cuz your tummy'll be grumblin for the whole piece
Cheers to the lads - good to see them embracing new tech :) next pint is on me if I see em down at the pub
I would have imperial bedrooms and my aim inside the top 5, but can't really quibble with the 1st and 2nd choices and most of the rest of this list
You just can't recommend books anymore. Speaks to the issue of our culture of smartphones not reading anything more than a tweet any more. Some poetic Justice In this dispatch being. What's that? Oh a tweet Makes you think
Perhaps you're correct. Music can be a way to relate to one another and connect with one another.... Have an open mind.
That may be true... I want to continue the conversation of what justice looks like so we can continue to heal. That's why I post here. Again my 2¢
Just my opinion is all man ... But Suffering, injustice and pain can leave people feeling helpless. Hard to argue with that fact
I don't know if he's that guy... But who's to say he ain't? All I know is that we cannot simply solve injustice by making music but I do know that if we all do our part by using our gifts to serve this planet and each other that we are that much closer to being united
a lot of people being snarky here in the comments, but honestly, in a time when there’s so much wrong with this broken planet, I find that down deep we all just crave healing and justice for humanity. And if music can provide that comfort, if songs that people can relate to and connect to so they feel less alone is wrong? then i dont wanna be right. Just my 2¢
what's the deal with the cowboys reference change? could it be football related... like The cowboys instead of The dolphins ???
Just cuz they're a bad band for even worse people doesn't mean anyone has to act all uppity about it. Couldn't agree more. Amen.
The pitchfork decimal scale only it's for grading how good or bad apologies are
that's only ~7.8 points too high
just gonna leave this here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sP9l9HBJ1o0
This is a great song but I can't help but think that this aesthetic fetishizing speaks more to how we're on a 2 decade streak of NO CULTURE and the bigger bleaker implications of that
melody kinda sounds like I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus
Fun times with some really fucking cool people
I'm the guy who went to see Pearl Jamm thinking it was Pearl Jam. Yes I thought it was odd that Pearl Jam was playing at my local bar but nonetheless I was offended by the inferior product, and contacted the band (Pearl Jam) posthaste, hence setting off this entire legal saga. So if anyone in the comments is gonna get mad at anybody, get mad at me.
I think they're saying that it still does sound like modern/hi-tech garbage (somehow) and I would agree with that - there's no warmth here, no looseness. Even the real strings sound fake. I'm actually kind of impressed given the description of the process. Everything about the band (STILL) feels like a homogenized commercial and they can't even break that mold when they are specifically trying to do so both conceptually (OK Human) and in practice (the analog recording technique). I'm not even saying that this is bad for what it is. I think it's kind of interesting that Rivers has leaned into becoming a walking, breathing google ad
thinking about this tag's mileage https://www.stereogum.com/tag/tucker-carlson/
was wonderin if zee blogz were gonna post this. it begs the question, if he's canceled and we cant listen to his stuff anymore then where is the line for the music publications essentially profiting off his name? like this is surreal and super funny, so i get posting it... im honestly not sure how I feel about this in the long run i guess, just saying... also, to anyone saying he always sucked (talking ONLY about the art now)... please fuck off. I did this when they rightfully canceled Louis CK, whom I never found that funny and whose insanely adored TV show struck me as one of the most overrated things ever made. But I was wrong. This is never the time/place to gloat, or use the cancelation as some kind of beacon to display that fucking somehow your good taste in art is so pure that it also registers as a morality barometer. No thank u!!
re that photo, Ariel Pink looked disgusting–nipples protruding–in his blue shirt before that crowd. Very very disrespectful!
