I'm convinced the band died in a van wreck a year ago, and was secretly replaced by socially-concerned musicians.
You're right about the Nothing Revolutionary. This music has already been written. I'd rather have the originals reunite for a concert, than see a bunch of partial-inspired kids place music from a generation they know little about. If it's retro, I wanna hear a modern-day twist.
Total pixies on that last song, except it's a lazy version of Kim Deal. It's interesting though.
Nice little feel. Forgettable though.
A nice simple riff, though repeated too many times i think. It's has a very down to earth feel.
*yawn* Surfer Blood wrote a few good originals, but for some reason, I'm thinking this band will be short-lived.
Kinda wished he brought something new to the table. Maybe i'm traveling at the fast of the internet and need to slow it down a bit.
Huge sounds coming from a big name, such as The Ocean. A little 90s metal-ish, but all attempts of making a concept album are encouraged.
I agree with that breakdown. We get it, songwriters. It was unexpected, yet expected. We've all seen it before. I think they should forget about that vocal part, and start over from scratch. First, construct a nice melody and then add the harmonies. If you're going to have atonality in part of the song, you better balance it with a well thought-out melody.
I miss hearing real drums in today's music.
Perfect for the dozen people who'll be listening to his album. Some bedroom recordings should stay in the bedroom.
Throwing every chord progression from the beatle's discography into a song. Still, it's interesting because it throws you around. The problem is, if you write more than one song, then it's going to all sound the same. He's talented as hell. He just needs to focus more.
Each song could have been condensed to 15 second clips. I couldn't even get myself to listen to the songs completely, but skip in 30 minute intervals.
It is what it is. I love the original though. That album still rules my household.
I just felt like i peeked my head into a tunnel leading to the depths of hell. That was awesome.
Hmmm. Is this really music? just kidding.
One/two idea(s) on repeat.
What a perfect little indie gem. Its a lot better than I expected from one of the dozens of "whale" bands. Nice 5/4 feel, too.
Id love to see this performed in concert
wow, I wasn't expecting that. I like it.
Unfortunately, it seems more style than substance. Artists must not forget that listeners have ears.
Still imaginative. Nice...
Good melody with okay instrumentation. Still, 2010 is the year of the Robyn.
I must be late to the party because I'm not seeing the linked mp3s on that site.
Its got that familiar groove, but seems smarter. I like it.
looks awesome. Someday, I'm leaving the farm.
Seeing the Dam Builders mentioned just brought a smile to my face. I would still love to see an artist do a 50 states thing. I should learn how to play and write songs, then I can be the first.
i see what you did there.
You do not sound like a fun person to hang around with. Experiencing things live is usually a lot more exciting than a single sitting with a CD. Because of this, I'd love to see an album performed in it's entirety. nerd...
Cue the untraditional time signature, the guitar/bass unison, and the high screaming. I really wanted to like this, but it sounds like a b-side of Superunknown. I'm glad they're together, and I hope they create a really good album.
Wow. I really love the parallel 5ths in the piano. Antony's vocals also go well with the piano. Beautiful/strange song.
It sounds like the vocals were done in one-take; they're sloppy and insincere. I'd expect a little more from a band with a large following.
It's a pleasure to hear Weezer's new stuff, whether it's good or great.
They should have had "nicknames". Sounds like a party game to me.
I've seen them twice, bought physical copies of their albums. I still don't know all their names. Hell, I don't even know what they guy behind Thom (in the first picture, with the necklace) does for the band? Tunes the guitars? I suck as a radiohead fan. :(
Love the band, but I hated them when they first came out. Thom looked like a pretty boy version of Kurt Cobain to me. It was that guitar-attack noise on Creep that got me hooked though.
