That's the issue, though, the "women are people too" song you think is terribly written literally has Great lyrics. I love those lyrics. It's just about a subject matter you don't want to hear. We get that you're so woke that that song feels like a no-duh sentiment, but I mean..... at least he is finally coming to a positive conclusion on that topic in music that will be heard by millions, when the genre he works in is kind of built on the opposite of what he's offering in 'violent crimes'. If Famous took u out of Kanye fandom, Violent Crimes could have pulled u back in. It is sad to me that the noise of the clickbait is too loud for some people to hear through right now
I already said I didn't love JIK, not hard to admit. But okay to make this comparison work, imagine Eddie Vedder came out publicly in support of Trump, and PJ released those 2 albums you don't like After doing that. People would rage at those albums regardless of the quality. that's what is going on with kanye right now. Ye was actually great, a lot of people should give it another listen or two
I really don't think kanye humiliating taylor swift was the point of the famous video though. was he also humiliating trump and cosby by showing them? the vid was an exploration of the invasiveness of celebrity culture (something like that anyway), and if it didn't come attached to the clickbait of the taylor drama, it would be seen as one more cool music video.
i think a lot of people have fully lost faith in Ye at this point (which I obviously get) but that unfortunately means they aren't willing to extend the benefit of the doubt to 'edgy' ideas that just Might be more thought provoking than they are harmful. He's given us a lot. I'm still happy to hear him out
i mean... two things can be true at once. the famous vid was provocative art. it was also invasive and revenge porn-y. also no one with his catalogue/life can realistically be called 'small minded'
I live-streamed the opera. It wasn't what I personally want from Kanye content (he didn't appear onstage until the final bow) but to me it's cool that he's doing whatever random idea he feels like at the moment - it's very hit and miss but it's a lot of creative energy which i appreciate. I don't love JIK like I do the rest of his albums but I'd much rather our pop culture musical figures be doing weird out there stuff that no one asked for. Makes the world feel more real
this song is kinda plodding but the vocal is nice and there's some cool piano/guitar arrangement moments. when it comes to modern weezer, if I can hear a guitar I'll basically take it

I mean, that is a hilarious lyric. Those who don't get the humor made fun of the croissants line on Yeezus too. The jokes are intentional. i think bc of the trump thing people don't want to let themselves laugh with him, so they laugh at him for saying them. Even when his jokes are truly funny. strange times bros

Nas's album has Cop Shot the Kid, Adam and Eve, Simple Things. It's my least listened to of the bunch also but seems like that one got unfairly bashed. All the Wyoming albums are fire
Excited to listen to this but weirdly the singles haven't done anything for me. Kinda wish she'd get back to that Burn Your Fire style, I found it a lot more relatable. Happy to be wrong tho!
