I'll always check out an indie-rock-adjacent act with an animal as part of their band name. Has there ever been a bad one? No. This is my kinda tune.
Another solo one, that was quick. It's very pretty, his voice is always amazing, but it still feels like Wild Beasts-lite. A stripped down WB. None of their big flourishes that drew me in. Still good though!
Ahhh that's right https://media.giphy.com/media/ZfK4cXKJTTay1Ava29/giphy.gif
Wow that was good. I found about about Amen Dunes from this site in the comments section when I joined in 2014, someone (sorry, forget who) named them as one of their favorite current bands and I recognized all on their list except that one. Then I listened to their album Love and fell in love, and loved Freedom too, now I love this, and will love the full new album too I'm sure. LOVE!
Why not 1000 though?
One of the best bands of the past decade-plus, without question. Immense talent. But they're too lowkey to ever get the huge following they deserve.
These guys are good, another solid one. Not crazy about their first two albums, but from Frond on they've been steadily consistent with each release.
Love UMO, and this song is alright...but something about singing the days of the week though, real turn-off. Didn't Arcade Fire do that too? Don't do that.
Really like that new W.H. Lung. Debut album is pretty solid too.
Very cool, energetic song, I like I like... Maybe the 2nd half of 2021 will have some more nice surprises like this.
Thanks for recommending some, but they're all leaving me cold. I might just not like music anymore, I have to consider that
Let me cross-reference with my list..... Iceage and.... that's it. Slowwww year for me so far. And I can't even say the list is "missing" personal faves of mine like The Antlers or Small Black because their new albums were just... meh. I cannot think of a year in the past decade where there were so few albums I cared about by June. I usually, on average, buy/download around 1000+ new songs every year. Yeah not 2021. Am I sleeping on some solid recent indie rock that you girls and boys can clue me in on?
More new Woods is never a bad thing
Chris Brown still a thing, and a "special guest" at that. Astonishing.
They could have at least put themselves 2nd billed! But no, THIRD. Team players.
Woodsist Festival and Woods isn't even headlining, even though they surely are worthy. Oh Woods, so modest. Love them.
No Pond? Aight... But Vundabar fuck yeah. Love all their albums. Why aren't they more popular?
Wilco, Spoon, Kurt, Malkmus - now that's a festival line-up the bsb can get on board with!
Sometimes I think I prefer Pond to Tame Impala. Listening to this song is one of those times. Great song. And I think I've played "Daisy" more than any Tame Impala song, so re-listenable.
Oh shit I missed "In A Light" last week, some fan I am. Good song! This is pretty solid too.
Night Moves deserves more love. If anyone isn't a fan, I have to assume it's only because you've never heard one of their songs.
Can't tell if compliment or insult.....
Actually, since there's 12 songs on the album, that'd be 12 out of 14,000. Or a 3 in 3500 chance that any song from this album had been playing as I came to this site and saw this article. Math.
That's a fine description, "good enough to keep coming back." No one ever says Elbow is their #1 fave band, or even Top 10, but they're talented, capable musicians who clearly care and are good at what they do, never putting out subpar crap. Pretty damn solid discography.
Ha sooo weird. I have my entire music library (14,000 songs) on shuffle, and literally right now "Presuming Ed" is playing. What are the odds?* *1 in 14,000
Me spinnin that new Iceage album this weekend https://media.giphy.com/media/3oz8xMlGznNnJYB9HW/giphy.gif
Looking at this lineup makes me realize I am officially this gif. Oh well. I've accepted it. It's fine. https://media.giphy.com/media/cQtlhD48EG0SY/giphy.gif

I loved their first album, liked their 2nd for the most part aside from a song or 2, but 3rd was meh. "Heat Waves" is pretty good I guess. But they've done better work on those first 2 albums... Good for them though. I saw them live (twice!) and they were solid shows. Real Estate opened for one of them, they went together surprisingly well.
Borderline? I just noticed, I like that they also named their label after the best song from that album!
Man these guys are good at making whatever kind of song they feel like. https://media.giphy.com/media/XteNIxbCLj3HzEfAil/giphy.gif
Surprised no one else said this, it looks very much like that. I mean, I guess if you don't wanna get into all THAT, you could also say it looks like scars from some good ol' fashioned S&M whipping. Would anyone be surprised if Grimey and Musky were into that? But either way, yeah, it looks like whipping scars, especially being on the back. Cool..?
One? He's got several LP's under his belt! Go check'em all out. (Especially Captain)
It's on the list now! I was gonna say, SG covered all 3 (great) singles they released for this album, so the omission was prob just an oversight. They're a lowkey under-the-radar band, it happens.
Wow no respect for Small Black, not even included in the Other albums section. Real nice. Best Blues was one of my faaaaaavorite albums of 2015, I still love it, so underrated. Very excited for their return after a 6 year absence.
What a creep.
