Or a fantastic Spring song, especially considering the first two lyrics are "It's Spring...." ;-)
Heartbreaking Bravery was my favorite Moonface album (that I've heard of/knew existed...) so check that one out if you wanna see if they're up your alley too.
SEVEN Moonface albums? I thought there were like 2 or 3, huh. Guess I missed some. Wolf Parade, Moonface, Sunset Rubdown, Swan Lake, Frog Eyes, now solo under his own name... Guy keeps busy with a lot of projects and sounds, I admire that. Dan's no slouch either! (Operators, Handsome Furs, etc.) Although I wish he had also put out seven albums with Divine Fits... Imagine that.
It's alright, but I see why it didn't get AOTW or a PE. It's fine, but a little too lowkey and nondescript. The advance singles were all nice and pretty and I liked them a lot, but I was hoping they'd be part of an album with some songs that hit more like "Parade." Nope, all the rest are right in the same light, breezy wheelhouse. Which is fine, but a little disappointing. And I've already outed myself as an anti-instrumental guy, but TWO? As opener AND closer? On an album of only TEN songs? After waiting SEVEN years for new material? After waiting to hear THAT voice? No, I feel gypped. I won't say it's a flat-out disappointment, and I do like all 8 other songs, but after such a long wait AND following up Familiars, sad to say there's a liiiiittle disappointment. It seems like a slow-burner/grower and I'm sure I'll appreciate it more down the line, but as of now it's just a collection of very very pretty, lowkey, relaxing music without much to distinguish one song from the next.
Always quality stuff from these bros
Another great one. The age of Iceage is upon us!
I don't usually do the whole "visual album" thing but I might have to make an exception for the Antler boys
PE for The Antlers, looking forward to it!
AND he made all those album covers?? I didn't even know that. Talented dude all around, wish he got some more credit but eh that's the biz.
No one cares about that kind of under-the-radar indie rock around here these days, sadly. I mean, I do, but I don't count. But yes, compelling is apt, all his records are. I love his weirdness, and the fact it always seems like he's singing from outer space. Cool album artwork too!
"Machu Picchu" and "“Under Cover Of Darkness” has to be the best 1-2 punch of an opening on any Strokes record. Hell, “Two Kinds Of Happiness” is great too, a 1-2-3 punch!
Light Information is great too! Opening track "Mind Hijacker's Curse" is one of his best. And that's just a great song title.
It's gonna be a good album
Chad VanGaalen, nice! Weird name, weird music, but in a good way. 2014's Shrink Dust is an underrated modern classic, I say...
Civic not bad. Has a QOTSA vibe.
Good stuff. But we're approaching 4 years since Hot Thoughts was released (what how what!??) in a couple days. I need new Spoon ASAP please for the love of God
In the Archie comics they retire from crime and go off to an animal planet where they embrace their inner beast, strip down nude, and roam the lands together. It was actually pretty sweet.

This and Wakin On A Pretty Daze are neck-and-neck for his #1 in my book, can't decide...
I hope you played Ori and the Blind Forest first! They're not very plot-heavy games but it really is a 2-part story and has a beautiful ending that brings both games full circle.
One of the best games of ALL TIME and I've been playing on every system since the NES so you know thas a lotta games. Beating Nightmare King Grimm and the Path of Pain are two of my favorite gaming accomplishments.
Foxing, Foxygen, Fleet Foxes, Foxwarren... white indie dudes like foxes. And why not? They're cute.
I knew it was a masterpiece the first time I heard it not to brag no big deal what ev https://media.giphy.com/media/dXKiD8XysOuhFAJB1f/giphy.gif
I mean, it seems like, from the quote about, he wishes there were more bands like.... Maroon 5 around. Which, ew. No.
Plenty, plennnttyyyy, PLENTTTYYYY of solid indie bands out there that are better than almost anything on the radio, and no one knows who they are or cares about them. But I care. And I'm grateful they exist. Unlike ADAM LAME-VINE.
I probably sound like a broken record by now, but my current fave is the band Night Moves. Somehow they've been around since 2012 and I only just heard of them last year. They deserve so much more attention! Some other good recent finds: The Dig Sundara Karma Maybird Crepes Pool Holograph Fog Lake
3 for 3. Bring it on, boys.
Oh shit I forgot that too, thanks for the reminder. I AM into Woods, so this is right up my alley.
I totally forgot they had a new one coming out, nice surprise. They'll never end up on anyone's Top 10's but they're def worth a listen.
Yes, Fruit Bats. They're always solid.
Is that what it means? As far as I know, he's never been married and no kids. But if he refers to kids as "creatures" maybe that's for the best ;-D But wait, then what does the "diamonds from space" part mean? Is that just another term for the kids? I mean, that's pretty obscure to me.
Really? Cringe? It's obscure and weird sure, and I have no f'ing idea what it means, but that's... OK. To me, at least.
It's not ever gonna be up for debate as their #1 best with the other 4 or 5 definite contenders, but I'd still rank it above Telephono and A Series of Sneaks, which is good, but not yet their signature Spoon sound. It's got some really short/filler songs that just don't do it for me either, whereas only "Us" leaves me cold on Hot Thoughts.
Gimme Fiction 7th? Hot Thoughts last, below Telephono? No, no, no....
Demo is fine but doesn't hold a candle to the final version, a classic. Oh and please announce a new album soon, guys. Please. I need that in 2021. 4 years is too long to go in between records.
"Friday." "Falling Down."
"There’s Nothing You Can’t Do" was good, this is better. Keep'em comin'!
"Silent World" and "Procession"
