I’d actually be interested to hear Tom’s response to this. I think Doom was often trying to facilitate this conversation. Also, I wish Doom would have collaborated with Death Grips and Slick Rick but that is another topic.
But part of Doom’s art was that he was this kinda disheveled weird anti-hero playing the hero. And him sending clones out to perform live was part of the whole performance of it all. The context of what he was doing was important because he made it important. It wasn’t simply laziness. It was part of the character, so I think it’s kinda essential to bring it up in any examination of his work.
One of the greatest music venues I’ve been lucky enough to become a regular at. One of the most fun nights out I ever experienced was seeing !!! play live till late in the morning. This vaccine cannot come soon enough.
Sault is the best album this year. I’ve been so overwhelmed with work that I’ve been negligent about listening to music. But I do know that Sault was better than anything I’ve heard.
Happy Thanksgiving my dear friends. Gaucho is my favorite Steely Dan album, but Peg is my favorite song. This list is excellent. What are you all doing?
Lionel Richie is incomprehensibly huge in St. Lucia. I actually asked a one eyed prostitute why, and she looked at me like I was batshit crazy. True story.
I’ve heard so many different takes on this podcast that I should listen to an episode. I probably won’t, but maybe I should. Dan Lo Pan is the truth, so I’m definitely listening to this record.
Odds that Lil Pump’s ballot is thrown out because he’s a fucking moron? I’m assuming he’ll just draw a bunch of dicks on it and then miss the deadline.
Let us not forget, in all our desperation for change, that Joe Biden is a shitty candidate too, and we should do better in the future. Also, if you are in NJ, flip the ballot over and vote “yes” on 1.
Guys I want live music to come back. I want the crowds and the smell of weed in the air and a partially warm beer getting on my forearm because people keep bumping into me. I want to watch the lights go down and musicians walk on stage as I try to guess the first song by the final tuning of a guitar, I want to look at whoever is with me in that moment of recognition that communicates the idea that nowhere on earth could I possibly be happier.
I want to go to church. Please take me to church.
