PSY should totally be #1, and I have the feeling that everyone knows it, but just doesn't want to say it. Regardless of your thoughts on the song, no other music video has ever been so popular, and with good reason.
It's cheap fun pop music. Meant to be taken in with copious amounts of alcohol and good friends, maybe some dancing. There's a time and a place for all genres, and pop's is for when you want some fun music that doesn't try to be anything more than it is.
BRB gonna blast some Black Eyed Peas because I'm so two thousand and late

Man, between these well thought out articles and the weekly comment popularity contest, this site just makes me happy.
Also the giveaways, if for nothing else than the fleeting feeling of any of this having real-world significance.
It's pretty tasteless for sure, but I'm curious about the end result of all this. Death Grips just got tons of publicity, more than Epic would have gotten them, and probably more than a little underdog/fuck the man street cred to those who want to believe it. But they're not getting paid for this record, and might get sued? I don't know much about legal stuff. Similar to Radiohead giving away In Rainbows, I'd love to see the numbers behind this, because I'm a nerd like that. I bet this is an overall positive for Death Grips though.
This story excites me in a silly "yeah! fight the power!" kind of way. I don't even like Death Grips, but this is some good stuff, regardless of who's in the wrong.
As a fan of all things even tangentially related to Wolf Parade, I feel like Moonface+Siinai could be on this list as well. Sure it's two acts that are a year or two old, but together they're something new, strange and amazing.
On topic though, Divine Fits made the best album of 2012 hands down.
someone on Slow Nerve Action, a Lips fansite, said that legal redtape was to blame for chris martin not being allowed on the wide release. which sucks because Tasered and Maced sucks.
