How dare bands try and make money by touring on their hits. Everybody knows the only way to keep your artistic integrity is to start a pro wrestling reality show.
Perhaps some people don't define their musical tastes along arbitrary genre lines and can enjoy both "mainstream" and "indie" music. They may come to Stereogum for news and videos of certain bands and then use MTV as a source for others.
Oh, it was a good one, I'll freely admit that. But a couple of other commenters have made reference to the mustache as if it were mine so I felt the need to state otherwise.
The mustachioed gentlemen in my avatar is News Radio's Jimmy James played by veteran character actor Stephen Root as evidenced here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJ_L48zK53E&feature=relmfu . The mustache in the picture is in fact the key to a episode long joke about regretting facial hair decisions thus making it terrible for the sake of terrible with the end result being humour. This song is both terrible and laughable but I don't think either was intentional on the part of Animal Collective.
You should be punished and made to write and draw a Don't Mess With The Zohan comic book. You just try and get all that hilarity into 22 pages. It can't be done my friend, it can't be done.
Well folks it looks like we're well on our way to Frank Ocean being in the top three most commented on articles of the week, or however that works. It's my hope that by weeks end Frankie will have taken all 5 spots which would have to be some sort of record, especially for a R&B artist. Usually he'd have to pee on somebody to get this kind of attention.
Seriously though this album is the bee's knees and I'm digging all the positive comments I've been reading about it.
I know we all love to show disapproval but are 32 downvotes really necessary for a 'first' post? Surely we don't need to send this guy to the top 5 worst comments, that is best reserved for those controversial and ignorant comments that at least inspire some conversation.
Brad Wood! Brad Wood! Brad Wood!
I dunno who that is, but everybody else was saying it. I want to be cool too. Can I be cool guys? Perhaps if my next album was with Brad Wood?
Community IS pretty bad with the exception of the Dean, but I do find Glover to be a pretty likable fella outside of the show. And McHale is pretty funny on the Soup.
This kind of sounds like a confession. Are you perhaps designing alternative music/Disney mashup products as your day job? If so can I see Huey, Dewey, Louie and Webby as the Pixies?
We get it pal, you're not into the Beastie Boys and you're obviously better then the rest of us but why did you have to start nine different threads to get this point across? Your time could be better spent being a dick elsewhere I'm sure.
Done and done. Who am I to turn down the advise of somebody who has advised the one and only LaBron? Plus a mustachioed Mr. James can only be a good thing.
2 point: saying "average music listener"
1 point: use of word "pretentious"
1 points: for general air of musical taste superiorty
3 points: (1.5 each) for putting down both Spin and Billboard as credentials
2 points: saying "aging and generally irrelevant thirty somethings"
1 point: for mention of Pitchfork
Total:10
You're pretty close to winning. Keep it up.

As this article is called "Deconstructing: Grimes" I don't see why you would expect only a short sentence about the music, I mean how could it be anything less than a critical essay about who she is and what she does?
As for not posting any examples of the music in question I must admit I was a little saddened by this as well but then I remembered I was connected to the internet and that youtube existed so I was all set.
There was suppose to be a picture of Marge with her Monkees lunch box in that last comment. Seems I can't work the internet yet. So lets all just remember that scene and have a little chuckle to ourselves.
I like the style of this video a lot. The whole house reminds of of living in shitty accommodations during University...though never quite that bad. As for people not 'getting it' it seems about as comprehensible as most other music videos. I don't think there is much to get beyond this being a typical morning for 2-D.
I'm going to petition Adult Swim for a Donnytilla show. It should consist only of the dummy from your avatar repeatedly yelling things. I assume Jeff Dunham will be involved...perhaps as a consultant. I would stream such a show for sure.
