Everyone knows "Fourth of July" is the real song of summer anyway. Definitely will get my vote when the annual poll comes around.
Great choice for the top pick; everything Dev Hynes touches is gold, Jerry. Gold!
That is one fascist ass rule. No wonder people think we live in a police state.
Bieber had one of the best albums of 2012 as our old friend Corbin Goble can attest. Journals was good too, but I hope he comes back and recaptures the magic of "Believe". The roast was inane and calculated but it worked on getting him back in the public eye in a positive manner. He just needs to capitalize and release a single soon.
Sticking to my gums, "To Pimp A Butterfly" is pretentious tripe. "Forest Hills Drive" is way superior.
I know it's easy to get Salon and Slate mixed up, but Salon is slightly worse than Slate as far as hot takes go. Anyway, the think piece is a Salon article if that wasn't clear, get on it editors.
The new Father tape is blazes. Get on that.— Gram Larsons (@CraigSJ) March 25, 2015
It's the new Yeezus, in more ways then one i.e. it's more fun to talk about than listen to.
I think Tom meant "R.A.P. Music >" which is indubitably true.
Could you elaborate on some of this bullshit because from what I understand he is very well respected and credible.
Sam Hunt is single-handedly saving country.
Love You Like a Love Song is an uber-jam too.
What does this have to do with Kanye? Y'all complain about the excess coverage but can't seem to get his name out y'alls mouths. Pinback is a great band, no need to put this guy on a pedestal by slandering Kanye with an ad hominem attack. Also it really doesn't behoove you to pass judgement about someone's parenting ability when you know nothing about their domestic life.
This is dope, I like their new direction.
Dag nabbit I was hoping it was a cover of the Charli XCX song.
And yet Woody Allen's films get played nationwide, win Oscars, and get stellar reviews with not a ounce of outrage. The hypocrisy is stunning.
I like to switch up the lyric to "Baby you're so plastic". Much more fitting.
Seriously, Price Tag wasn't even that big of a hit. Although Domino was so generic Tom probably didn't even realize who sang it.
I follow him on Twitter and never quite knew what his deal was besides being hilarious. I appreciate the biographical info that gives some relevant context, thanks for the write up, definitely will check this out.
My album of the week is Slow Club - Complete Surrender, and it didn't even get a mention! That's that bullshit.
Awful lot of pop songs on the list. Not trying to be rockist, but there are multitudes of indie jams that are way better than Summer or Fancy. If you had to include an few obligatory EDM songs, y'all could of at least included Sky Full Of Stars. Also I voted for Jealous( I Ain't With It), but I'm about as confident that Seasons(Waiting On You) will win the poll as Hillary will win in 2016, i.e. very confident.
Glad to hear they're being as experimentally catchy as ever; idk know about that Miley sample tho, seems like it doesn't serve much purpose beside being click baity.
I think this great news; it shows great music still can still sell with a little verve and marketing. The mission is for us music nerds to save the music industry, if we choose to accept it.
My favorite Ultraviolence song is" Brooklyn Baby".
Woo, I love mid-year list season! I think it's been a great year for music so far even if nothing has blown me away. Great list Stereogum, nothing is conspicuously absent and great if obvious choice for #1. I'm sure debates will ensue regardless tho.

Y'all a bunch a haters. The Yung Biebs has blessed us with some undeniable pop classics and we should gives thanks. Believe was a top 10 album of 2012 of mine, along with former Stereogum alumi Corban Goble. No wonder he slid away from y'all close minded rockists. This song is pretty good, too.
Apple didn't forget about Dre, apparently.
"Yass Bish", but not "Believe Me"!? WTF Tom, you really dropped the ball. If there was room for only one rap song, that song should've definitely got the nod, not disparaging Nikki, that song is fire too, but "Believe Me" is Lil Wayne's best since I don't even know.
This column claimed "Chandeliers" had the chorus of the year several weeks ago; P4K is woefully behind in acclaiming the brilliance of that song. Stereogum FTW.
Number 1 in our hearts, about to be number 1 on the charts. Song of the summer for sure.
This song is the jam; y'all hipsters need to learn how to dance, you'll enjoy life more.
