If this movie was titled: FUTUREWARS: WARS OF THE FUTURE, I would not be cutting it as much slack as I am simply because it's the sequel to a movie I really liked as a kid. It had it's problems, but I definitely enjoyed it and will probably end up seeing it a second time in the theater! That being said, I would like Disney to once again seal the vault on Tron and not make another sequel, at least for another 20 years. We know what Tron looks like in 1982-o-vision, and in 2010-o-vision. We don't need to see what it looks like in late-2012-o-vision. I'm glad Gabe ended up having fun despite all the things he didn't like about it.
"Honestly, the only thing that I can think of that is going to be different is that when a fake president in a movie goes on the real talk shows to give the movie a sense of realism, Larry King Live will no longer be one of the shows." This is exactly what I thought when I heard this was happening yesterday. For anyone under 70 years old, Larry King was just some actor who played a somewhat-convincing news/talk-show anchor in movies and sometimes television. When you needed your character established as culturally relevant or noteworthy in your fictional story, you cut to a Larry King interview! Sometimes just in the background of a shot so audiences don't get too bored!
Oh man... Latin came out this year! I'd expect to see it in the top 10.
This guy knows whats up. Seriously, I don't understand why the LCD album is ranked so high on all these top of the year lists, other than the fact that it's supposedly the final LCD Soundsystem album and everyone is paying their respects (what is this, the Oscars?) Sound of Silver is *infinitely* better than This is Happening. 45:33 is better than This is Happening.
clackclackcrankclackclunkclunk-Jack's tattoo backstory episode was better than this bullshit -clackclackclankclunkclackclack (voice of Smokey)
Not enough is being said about the black lady. She was my favorite character because she was at least semi-rational. I remember her speaking her mind about wanting to kill someone who had been infected instead of fighting and arguing, like every other character. I think she also wanted to let Jim go when he felt like he needed to die... instead of HOLDING HIM AGAINST HIS WILL AS HE TURNED INTO A ZOMBIE IN THE VAN (Ahhhh I hate these characters so much!) So, she chose DEATH over having to spend another minute with this team of goddamn idiots. RIP, BEST CHARACTER: BLACK LADY :(
That's right! I forgot what other companies/brands he mentioned. It definitely sounded jokey, but then the video started playing with him in the Nike shirt and it definitely caught my attention. I would have not even noticed it if he hadn't just named the brand. In any case, the show was great and real or fake sponsorships don't change that.
This was used as background graphics for his tour. It was kinda strange because he jokingly (not jokingly?) introduced his Sunday set at the Beacon Theater as sponsored by a bunch of large companies, one of them Nike.
I agree with you on everything except the girl with downs' line... that wasn't too bad. But everything involving the reporter kid was horrible, the writing was horrible, there was basically no point to any of the songs because they were all dream sequences... it was the worst episode ever.
Seriously, someone at Skittles HQ missed a golden opportunity here. Especially with the insane direction that Skittles commercials have gone in the last few years (goat boys?), the commercial would make just as much sense to people who didn't know who double rainbow guy was.
