Didn't have the time to get into that Courtney Barnett album because I was constantly spinning the new Parquet Courts. So, so good. such a delightful surprise, I feared we were due for more of the same, but I was so delighted to be wrong. Courtney sounded solid enough based on two not-entirely-attentive listens. Hopefully I get the chance to dig into it more this weekend
Except Room on Fire is just as good as Is This It, and both are better than any Chvrches album
I really want to be excited for this but every single track Rocky has released in the past year managed to lower my expectations even more. I'm the meantime I'll take solace in the tracklist not being out yet (as in, it's possible that zero of these tracks are on the album), and cross my fingers really hard that this doesn't blow
Sun's Tirade is so, so good. Such a smooth record
Shit that drum groove is something. Thee Oh Sees never disappoint! love myself some Dwyer jams and I already like this more than their last few albums so very hyped for this
HOLY SHIT YES! Am was my favorite album that I discovered last year, I listened to it on repeat for a long while, amazing album. Thought they had broken up, this is amazing news. This just went on top of my most anticipated release of 2018
What? I love Depreston because of that riff, how is that a bad thing? Beautiful song
Well good to know that Hit and Run doesn't exclusively apply to harming people. Was really worried when I read the headline
Interstellar is, well, stellar
Despite this very exciting possibility I think what's written is "Samaria"
I think this is going to be "Congratulations" all over again
Pure Comedy suuuucks. This is like Pure Comedy if it was cut down to half its length (for the better), tried to use a few more instruments and not as pretentious. God's Favorite Customer though?? That one's on a whole other level than these two (and I really like TBH+C)
Oh fuck this, in 2015 he was 18-19, and if that was before that then he would have been a minor too. Sex with minors is a serious crime, not something you throw around to further discredit someone. No base for those accusations when the guy isn't of legal age / just out of that age range
I Will Possess Your Heart is very high on my list of all-time-great-bass-centroc songs. Right there next to Only in Dreams. Amazing song and a fantastic album overall. Going to jam to Long Division now
This sort of Billy Joel smear will not be tolerated, Chris
Universally terrible? Bruh WHAT? Explain to me how Movin' Out isn't one of the GOAT pop songs
Well, true. But so will the Crazy Frog song once you finish reading this sentence
I guess I Want It All is worse, but at least it wasn't released as a single
lol none of this is true. I swear you guys are really going down the hyperbole route with this record. It's not good. It's not nearly as bad as you guys pretend it is. (If pompousness / pretentiousness is your issue with Arcade Fire, you would have jumped off the bandwagon back in the Neon Bible days)
On the contrary, I like it way more than a lot of my friends. But being of the age that grew up alongside Arctic Monkeys' music, I will never feel about it the way I do about those three first records, which were game changers for me. That being said, these days I might like AM better than I do SIAS. That album really hasn't aged well
While true, I keep imagining to myself what could have been if they have started the album with If You Find This It's Probably Too Late, like on the Brianstorm single. This song is a fucking kick in the head if there ever was one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YDij1aP4P9E
Maybe they weren't a marquee band in the US up to AM, but they've been the biggest thing in England (and many other parts of Europe) for years before that. (and while I like AM a lot, it is easily their weakest album. their first three are untouchable)
I mean, if Suck It and See or AM didn't cause you to stop listening to the previous Monkeys' albums, there's no reason this one will. On the other hand I really don't think Everything Now was that bad and it definitely did not change my opinion on any other Arcade Fire album, so take that as you will
Yup. Fantastic album. I haven't watched their KEXP sesh yet but I've heard it's a riot
I think the main problem with this album is that it's essentially the Submarine EP Part 2 (or The Last Shadow Puppets part 2.5). This is definitely a full-on Alex Turner effort, and it sounds like one. Although practically all the material on every Arctic Monkeys album so far was written by Alex only, they all sounded and felt like band efforts. Each band member added his own thing to the mix (most prominent of all was Matt Helders of course). This time around, it sounds like a solo album which happened to be backed by the same musicians who are in AM, but their signature feel is gone. How can you have Helders on a track and have him sound so anemic? This is almost frustrating to hear. I don't think this is a bad album. I've listened to it quite a lot and found it mostly enjoyable - I believe if it was made by a completely different band, or released as a solo LP from Turner, it would have been pretty well received. There are some great tracks here, namely the title track and Four Out of Five . I'd also argue that it has less bad tracks than the previous album (which I really like, but who the fuck ever thinks to himself "geez, I really want to listen to Snap Out of It right now?"). But as an Arctic Monkeys effort, this just doesn't cut it for me. This band has released three honest-to-god masterpieces, and two other very great albums, and this album has been extremely anticipated. I wish it had turned out better.
Dude, shut up. All Things Must Pass is golden
Haven't listened yet (though I admit I've downloaded the leak) but the singles have already convinced me this is going to be better than both his last albums (I'm a Fear Fun guy myself). Really excited for this. The minimal-press attitude definitely helps btw
Is this the place to discuss the new Arctic Monkeys or are we waiting for the PE? ...there is going to be one, right?
This song is something else and Donald is incredible here, but let's focus on Hiro Murai for a second: Can this dude do something that's NOT amazing? honestly, between this video, the Never Catch Me music video, and the insanely great second season of Atlanta, it's becoming clear this guy is a legend currently in the making
Yeah, beat is legit great and I'm enjoying Uzi way more then I ever wanted to. This is a good track in my book
I think I'm going to go full Joe Howse for this album and just wait patiently but eagerly until next week
There's always the possibility that those #FingersInTheBootyAssBitch accidentally hit some self-destruct switch
If you report every piss take an artist does on twitter you might as well report on that time where they voice an incredibly dumb, ignorant take on one of the biggest media news platforms in the United States.
Apparently they just updated their story about the Charlamagne interview with a short mention (compared to the in-length breakdown of the interview) of the TMZ stuff. I'm saying apparently because I had to google to find out. They didn't even bother to update the headline. I'm thinking this might be even worse than not reporting it at all
