I just realize that "When Doves Cry" is the first Prince's #1. The Earth is a strange planet.
Starting the day with "When Doves Cry" is still weird and awesome. This is one of the songs that changed the way I listen music. 20/10!
Maybe they were not hungry enough for a show like that. Ok, the guy can be pretentious, but HE CAN BE THAT PRETENTIOUS and a little more. In the show I was, he was just a nice guy, enjoying everything he was doing on stage, and joking about his clothes. Since that concertI rediscovered his albums I didn't like that much.
He's the best live. It's like everything you wanted in a live show, and you never get tired of it. When I watched his show, I thought "THIS IS A (ROCK)STAR"
Speaking of PC Music, I'm excited for this album (AG Cook is simply genius), but I'm also happy to see the name Planet 1999 in Stereogum, even when it's that little mention. The sound is something else, as most of the music in this label, and "Party" is one of my SOTF candidates.
I was sad because "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" received just an 8. Then "Let the Music Play" appears and I got all the energy I needed to start this week. I can't rate "Jump" as I can't rate "Girls Just...", they are songs that I grew up with, and to me they don't need to sound different at all.
I was expecting this song because of Robyn (I guess this is the song, right?), but I'm happy for everybody involved here. GREAT TRACK
That cover art... simply WOOF! That didn't age well at all
"Godless", song and video, were something disturbing that left a mark in me, at 17 years old. That's the reason I appreciate the Dandy Warhols and this album. They had a well rounded sound back then and I was always expecting great things from them.
A few hours ago I was listening her first single again and it's excellent. This is also very good. And I'm happy Ela Minus is a colombian artist!
I forgot "So We Won't Forget" when I voted, and it's a shame, because that song is still giving me all the joy.
Unfortunately, here in Chile I can't stream "When I'm With You" in Spotify, but thank God there is YouTube.
This album rocks too much. Perfect summer album, "When I'm With You" is still the perfect summer song. The truth is there's no bad song on Crazy for You, and I remember listening this album a lot. "The End" was my favourite.
As a colombian, I'm completely sure "Total Eclipse of the Heart" was THE influence for 80's and 90's latin ballads. That type of song was everywhere, and teach millions of people how to be melodramatic. I can't find something really wrong about "Total Eclipse" but it reminds me tons of bad bad bad music from my youth.
Wow. Nice message to all the people in hospitals for Coronavirus, or people with a long recovery process. Sorry but this kind of selfishness just upsets me.
Thank you for bring back "Remember". This song IS awesome. I'm not sure if this is the original version, but it is everything since I listened it in a session from Kornel Kovacs I believe?
It's strange but everytime I think in Thriller, the album, "Human Nature" is the song that immediatly comes to me. I don't know exactly why, and that's not my favourite song from the album.
Every video that includes Elvira is great, even if it has "Maniac". Gosh, now that song will be stuck in my head for days!
It has to be the best comedy of 2020, and one of the best talking about how strange weddings can be sometimes (I can remember some great weddings)
Totally agree on Sawayama over the other 3 albums. But when What's Your Pleasure? enters to the room...
Just came to say that "Here Comes the Rain Again" is a 10, Maybe a 9. "Sweet Dreams" is a legend and universally a 10.
I read "agressive" and "Beach House" and I needed to try it. And it was true.
The incredible Mary Lattimore in this list is a joy I wasn't expecting. Her previous albums are some kind of blessings from another dimension. Spiritual and sexy.
Jill is one of the best of her generation. She was the one who show me how soul music in the 00s could be something so deep and generous.
"Don't Stop the Music" will have its review someday,... right?
"I.O.U." is so light and nice. Not my favourite but one I can't skip on my retro days.
I can't choose either. All the tracks are so good!
We deserve "I Know the End" this summer. It's not the song I want for summer, but these are the times. Otherwise, my summer playlist needs these other tracks: Remi Wolf - "Photo ID" T. Martin, K. Washington, G Perico, Daylyt - "Pig Feet" Caribou - "Never Come Back" Charli XCX - "Claws"
Excited for this album. Right now enjoying the new Juliana Barwick release. It's necessary right now listen music this beautiful
"Words" comes so easy to me. I love it.
Now I'm Team Lanvin. It's hard to pick a team, I'm suffering every elimination. And yeah, Law is the ego maniac judge, but sometimes he can be as charming as anyone else on that show. Leiyomi Maldonado, GRL!
*loving Girl in the Hood, but you know what? YES, I'M LIVING, thanks to Legendary. GAGGED.
I'm living Girl In the Hood because I'm watching Legendary. By the way, the music in that show is SOMETHING ELSE
I wasn't expecting something not that good this time. The singles were showing the genius direction she took. Her albums are always so well done. She is one of the most reliable vocalists right now. We only needed the songs, and she delivers everything in What's Your Pleasure?. A pop banquet she is giving us! She deserves and needs all this attention. By the way, everytime I try to talk about this album is inevitable to mention Future Nostalgia and Chromatica. Maybe this is a sign of these bleak times, sometimes looking for a little of sunshine, this time in the form of pop music.
Talented girl. I'm loving her in Legendary, just because she's part of that GAGGING show
Free Your Mind is their coolest album. I love Zonoscope, one of the best albums of the last decade, but FYM is the Cut Copy album I always visit. The concept, the retro sound, they just let it go, And I gotta thank Stereogum, because they pushed me to listen FYM again in 2013, when it was declared the Album of the Week, and I was so convinced it was a "just good release". Everytime I listen their slow tracks for the first time it's hard, but they always make me reconsider.
This album is still great. Very few albums are that great from that era. They were classified in a wrong genre, but everyone who listens White gets the idea since 'Feiticiera'. On the other hand, sorry, 'Back to School' was so unnecessary, but I hope many Moreno people has listened White Pony because of that song.
Since the AS EP, I've believed Amnesia Scanner is one of the most realistic acts in electronic music. They are making music about the state of human body right now, and sometimes you can dance that music. They never disapoints, and my whole body is waiting that I listen this release.
Happy to see Shadow Offering as AOTW. This band has an special and interesting sense of music. I'm waiting for this album a lot.
"Time" and "So We Won't Forget" are simply amazing singles, specially the latter. That song makes smile always. "Pelota" just shows their enormous range, and I'm hoping their new album has more incredible tunes.
